10 Major X-Men Characters Get Reimagined In Classic Animated Disney Style Through Marvel Art
A line-up of classic
X-Men have been reimagined as characters from traditional Disney animation in stunning fan art. Marvel’s famed mutant team are among the most popular in Marvel’s pantheon. They are yet to make their appearance in the official MCU timeline, but following Disney’s acquisition of Fox, they are back under Marvel’s remit, leading many to wonder what a Disney X-Men line-up would look like. This has since been brought to life in vivid fan art.
Artist eroz.ai has
transformed several classic X-Men characters into Disney counterparts. The impressive imagery includes Wolverine, Cyclops, Gambit, Rogue, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Jean Gray, Mystique, Storm and Beast. Each of these has been given a distinctly Disney-style design, drawing from the pre-CGI era of Disney’s animated history. They bear a resemblance to several familiar Disney characters from movies like The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, The Lion King, and Peter Pan, among others.
What The X-Men Disney Art Means For Marvel Close While the MCU"s X-Men isn"t going to be an animated Disney movie, these fan images proffer the closest insight into the pending adaptation. The only rendition of the X-Men from Disney has been in X-Men ’97, which was a continuation of the classic 1990s X-Men: The Animated Series and, as such, recreated the character designs. This means that eroz.ai’s images ar
e among the first to depict what the X-Men characters could look like under Disney’s remit following the acquisition of Fox.
Though the MCU’s X-Men will not look like these images, they are a fun “what if…?” in place of actual designs. It also allows for
a crossover between Disney"s two greatest cinematic achievements. Firstly, their history as the most successful animation house in history, and then the biggest cinematic franchise ever in live-action.
Our Take On The X-Men Art
The Disney-style X-Men art is certainly impressive and attractive. Each is tailored to a specific Disney character, with some
subtly reflecting character archetypes in satisfying ways. Mystique, the beguiling, morally ambiguous mutant terrorist, resembles Peter Pan’s Tinker Bell, an ill-tempered albeit benevolent fairy. Beast, the furry and sophisticated scientist, is recast as Scar from The Lion King, who is famed for his queer-coded urbane refinement, despite his beastly deeds.

Posts Interestingly, as these images are based on a bygone era of Disney designs, they have replicated an aspect that also plagued early X-Men comics - preposterously unfeasible body types. Obviously, both mediums allow for a certain degree of exaggeration and artistic license, and this is certainly not a criticism. However, it is
an interesting parallel between the two seemingly disparate franchises that have been brought together through this
X-Men fan art.
