10 Things To Know From Previous DC Movies And Shows Before Creature Commandos
Creature Commandos is set to launch a brand new DC Universe, although several components of the previous DCEU have informed some of the new series.
With the canonicity of certain events called into question, it is difficult to know exactly what will apply to the DCU and what will not, even after James Gunn"s recent comments. It is now clear that certain elements of Amanda Waller"s appearances in The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker will be canon, while others, including in Black Adam, will not. As a result, it is worth having a resource to know what to expect.
Several features from the DCEU may still come into play during the run of the DCU, although how this will play in remains to be seen.
Gunn has spoken about how certain elements from the DCEU may be acknowledged, and therefore become a part of the series" canon. Until that is done, however, outside events, including the story of Blue Beetle and the multiversal mechanics of one of DC"s biggest bombs The Flash will not be canon. The following details are some of the few confirmed to be part of the story, and relevant to the new series.
10 Task Force X Uses Belle Reeve Prisoners Shown In Suicide Squad And The Suicide Squad Close Named for a plantation in A Streetcar Named Desire, Belle Reve has made several appearances in DC history, and is a prison where some of the most powerful supervillains are kept.
The prison has functioned as a base of operations for Task Force X and Amanda Waller, and The Suicide Squad saw many of its prisoners being recruited for the titular team. The prison will also play a significant role in Creature Commandos.
With figures like Bloodsport and Peacemaker being taken from the prison, the walls have held in all kinds of foes, terrifying and otherwise.
This has given Task Force X the opportunity to pick and choose from all kinds of characters with all kinds of abilities to assemble their teams. While the use of humans in Amanda Waller"s new Task Force M appears to be limited, characters like Weasel have also been found behind bars at Belle Reve.
9 Task Force X Was First Assembled By Amanda Waller Waller Was A DCEU Mainstay But Appeared Notably In Suicide Squad, The Suicide Squad And Peacemaker Close
Task Force X, referred to more generally as The Suicide Squad, was the brainchild of Amanda Waller, the head of A.R.G.U.S. Waller is a terrifying force in the DC Universe, with incredible links to institutional powers. With a moral compass that seems to be gray at best, Waller often works toward what she believes is the betterment of the world, although she has no qualms about hurting people she deems as lesser in order to make that happen.
Everything known about Waller, a television show confirmed as part of the DCU slate, shows that the character plays a prominent role in the upcoming franchise. Having appeared in Suicide Squad and Black Adam,
only Waller’s James Gunn-adjacent projects will be immediately important to the new universe with The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. Her plans for a new Task Force, now called Task Force M, will follow on the successes and failures of her previous Suicide Squad.
8 Rick Flag Was An Elite Soldier Recruited To Task Force X Flag Was One Of The Few Members Of The Team Who Were Not Criminals Close Rick Flag was a Special Forces Officer who was brought in to lead Task Force X on their mission to destroy a lab in Jötunheim.
The character was not a prisoner pulled out of Belle Reve, but was instead an accomplished figure who was brought in on a more supervisory capacity. With incredible skill and authority, the character did much for Task Force X throughout the run of the film, butting heads with many of the other team members.
Rick Flag Sr., the father of Joel Kinnaman"s DC character, is set to be a major part of Creature Commandos moving forward, making his son"s connection to the team so important. Part of a family with a large military legacy, the Flags have served their country throughout the years, with historic ties.
Rick Flag, unfortunately, faced a dark ending that is set to impact the new universe. The character"s ultimate fate ties immediately into the new series.
7 Rick Flag Was Killed By Peacemaker During Project Starfish This Occurred During The Events Of The Suicide Squad Close During their infiltration of Corto Maltese,
Flag made the discovery that many of the experiments they were looking to stop were actually secretly being funded by the US Government. A hero, Flag took it upon himself to secure proof of this involvement, in order to expose the horrible actions being taken and set everything right. While noble, this action led to his ultimate death at the hands of Peacemaker.
Peacemaker had been assigned by Waller to ensure that this information did not get out, and as a result, the character was forced to take drastic action. Peacemaker stabbed Flag in a controversial decision that is set to be part of the continued impact of the character in the universe. The fallout of Peacemaker"s actions, and the loss of Flag during this mission, will play into the story of Creature Commandos and Peacemaker season 2.
6 Weasel Was On A Decoy Task Force X Team Many Of The Suicide Squad Characters Were Set Up To Die Close In The Suicide Squad, the film opens with a team being sent out to Corto Maltese. Unbeknownst to the members involved, which included TDK and Captain Boomerang, this team was only a decoy and was meant to draw fire away from the real team. In a dramatic scene,
characters including Weasel are shown to be attracting immense destruction, with the bulk of the team being quickly killed off.
Weasel was a part of this decoy, a team that showed how little the people involved actually mattered to the minds behind Task Force X. Each of these villains was intended to be killed during this raid, serving only as a distraction. The inhumane nature of this action reflects on how disposable Waller treats the assets. While the team was intended to be killed, some survived, allowing the impacts of this to remain a significant influence on the future.
5 Weasel Survived The Events Of The Suicide Squad Confirmed In The Suicide Squad's Post-Credit Scene Close Weasel is the most prominent member to return from this previous project. Used in the decoy team,
Weasel has already been offered up as a sacrifice and, joining this new Task Force M team, is potentially aware that it could happen again. His faith in the team is very small, and the fact that they would do away with him without a second thought may contribute to how the character will perceive events in the new series.
With the possibility of a Creature Commandos season 2 being discussed,
Weasel is set to be an important part of the overarching story of the team and characters. With a disturbed and violent outlook, the character is the only member of the original team to be transferred to Task Force M. Considering his past, and his connections to the larger world, this character"s relationship with the larger world could be significant to the new show.
4 Project Starfish Put The Suicide Squad In The Public Eye The Events Of The Suicide Squad Put More Scrutiny On A.R.G.U.S. Close Project Starfish saw the members of Task Force X coming up against the villain Starro, a giant kaiju monster. This is not something that is easy to hide, and went even further when
the squad revealed themselves and their US Government connections to the people of Corto Maltese. While the fight against Starro ultimately saw the monster being defeated, the repercussions of this event, and its reveal, remain to be shown in Creature Commandos.
With Waller"s shady work being exposed, the character will have much to account for. This is shown in the changes to her Task Force in the upcoming series.
With additional oversight, and changes to the structure of A.R.G.U.S., it seems that the implications of this event have far-reaching effects on Waller and her group. What follows in the fallout from this event is important to what will occur in Creature Commandos.
3 John Economos Still Works For Amanda Waller The Character Debuted In The Suicide Squad Close John Economos has worked alongside Amanda Waller on Task Force X, and the character has become an increasingly important part of the DCU.
While his clashing with Waller, due to more well-meaning ethics, led to some tension in The Suicide Squad, the character came into his own in Peacemaker. Economos worked alongside Peacemaker and Leota Adebayo to expose Project Butterfly.
Economos gained a great deal of courage and confidence to go along with his tech skills in Peacemaker.
By the end of that series, the character had killed a gorilla with a chainsaw to save Peacemaker, giving him a path toward being a hero. At the end, he has returned to his job at Belle Reve, where he will continue to work alongside Waller. With additional confidence and character growth, Economos has returned to his job, although he is set to take much greater initiative in the future.
2 Amanda Waller's Task Force X Was Outed By Her Daughter Leota Adebayo Is a Major Part Of Peacemaker Close Leota Adebayo was a significant character in Peacemaker, where she was eventually revealed to be the daughter of Amanda Waller. The character played a large role in recruiting Peacemaker and actually clearing his name to the world.
In this, with links to Project Butterfly, she wound up revealing much of what her mother had done. The tension in their relationship is enormous, with the two characters being incredibly different.
Set to frame Peacemaker by planting a diary, Adebayo instead fought alongside him.
This culminated in the reveal of many of Waller"s crimes, leaving her and A.R.G.U.S. in a strange and uncertain place by the end of the series. While Waller seems to still have a great deal of power in Creature Commandos, her status and abilities have been somewhat limited, largely because of Adebayo"s actions.
1 Themyscira Is An Island Nation Only Inhabited By Women First Introduced In Wonder Woman Close The idea of Themiscyra being important to Creature Commandos is a surprising development, especially considering that characters like Wonder Woman are not set to play a part.
While the story of Wonder Woman and the Amazons will be different in the DCU, some general details of Themiscyra are significant to the events of Creature Commandos. The new series introduces Circe, historically one of the main villains of Wonder Woman and Themiscyra.
With Circe as one of the DCU"s new villains, her connection to Themiscyra is set to play a significant part in Creature Commandos.
Themiscyra, as shown in the Wonder Woman films, is an island nation that is inhabited only by women. This detail is important to know going into
Creature Commandos. The Amazonian women therein are very powerful, and are set to play a big part in the future of this new DC Universe.
