Marvel Studios confirmed the existence of Nicholas Scratch in Agatha All Along, but the truth regarding the fate of Agatha Harkness" son is yet to be revealed. The mystery surrounding Nicholas Scratch was first teased in Agatha All Along"s premiere, but the infamous Marvel Comics warlock still hasn"t made his live-action MCU debut. Agatha All Along has seemingly confirmed that Nicholas Scratch is deceased, but the exact nature of his demise and the history of his relationship with his mother could be game-changing for the Phase 5 series.
Agatha All Along episode 1 provided the first look at Nicholas Scratch"s childhood bedroom, which Agatha, stuck in her Agnes O"Connor guise, seemingly kept untouched following her son"s death. Over the duration of Agatha All Along"s first four episodes, Agatha became convinced that Joe Locke"s "Teen" was Nicholas Scratch, returned from the dead, but this idea was put to bed following his reveal as Wiccan in Agatha All Along episode 5. Agatha Harkness" magic-stealing routine has made her notorious among the witch community. She is referred to as "Witch Killer" by Jennifer Kale, and she and Lilia Calderu both show disdain for the possibility of entering into a coven with Agatha.
During the third trial on the Witches" Road, Agatha Harkness became possessed by the ghost of her mother, Evanora. It"s very possible that Nicholas Scratch exhibited magical abilities just like his mother, perhaps from an early age. If these powers arose when he was a child, Nicholas may have been unable to control them, which could have led to him inadvertently using his powers on his mother. Rio and Agatha"s past romantic relationship has been heavily teased, but it seems a betrayal of some sort drove the pair apart. Although it hasn"t yet been confirmed, Rio Vidal has been heavily speculated to in fact be the MCU"s depiction of Lady Death, to which there have been several clues in Agatha All Along. If she is Lady Death, Rio may have been forced to take Nicholas Scratch away from Agatha following his death.

This would perfectly mirror Wanda Maximoff"s storyline as the Scarlet Witch in Phase 4, as she also hoped that the Darkhold would enable her to reunite with her children in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Nicholas Scratch Theory Gives New Meaning To Tragic Agatha All Along Scenes Nicholas Scratch Made His Voice Debut In Agatha All Along Episode 5

Although he has been hinted at and alluded to, Nicholas Scratch hasn"t yet been seen in the flesh in the MCU. However, Agatha All Along episode 5 provided Nicholas Scratch"s voice debut, as he urged his mother to stop absorbing Alice"s magical power during the third trial on the Witches" Road. Hearing Scratch cry out, "Mama, don"t," was heartbreaking, but the new theory also gives new meaning to this moment. Instead of trying to get his mother to stop stealing Alice"s power, Nicholas may have been repeating his final words, hoping Agatha would stop absorbing his magic.
Agatha Harkness became convinced that Joe Locke"s "Teen" was Nicholas Scratch in Agatha All Along, but the ending of episode 5 actually revealed him to be Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. Wiccan, the son of Wanda Maximoff"s Scarlet Witch.
Agatha Harkness shows sheer distress during her Alewife"s Revenge hallucination in Agatha All Along episode 3, "Through Many Miles of Tricks and Trials," when she sees the Darkhold in Nicholas Scratch"s crib after hearing his cries. Hearing "Teen" state Nicholas" name is the only thing that breaks Agatha"s connection to Alice Wu-Gulliver in episode 5. Agatha obviously has a great deal of regret and grief when it comes to Nicholas Scratch, so the upcoming episodes of Agatha All Along could confirm his harrowing death at his mother"s hand.
