10 Spider-Man Movies We Actually Want Sony To Make
There are many movies following
Spider-Man that Sony should actually make if they want to please fans of the character. Throughout Spider-Man"s movie timeline, the character has been featured many times in both live-action and animation. As one of the most iconic superheroes of all time and one of Marvel’s most consistently popular characters, interest in Spider-Man movies remains as high as ever, even after several less than stellar movies following the hero and his supporting characters.
The movies of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe might have left much to the imagination, but their adaptation of various figures from the wider Spider-Man mythos was an interesting idea. In fact, there are many other characters and storylines from the pages of Marvel Comics that deserve to be made into Spider-Man movies, should Sony continue to do so. As the rights to the character continue to belong to Sony, here are 10 Spider-Man movies we actually want them to make.
10 More Tom Holland Spider-Man Movies Tom Holland's Spider-Man Has Proved Hugely Popular Close Since joining the franchise, Spider-Man"s MCU timeline has seen him become one of its best characters. Having featured in six MCU movies, including three solo films and three alongside the Avengers, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has become one of the most prolific in the character’s history. Plans to continue his cinematic journey have been confirmed, and it’s something that fans of the character are eager to see.
Continuing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man story is the most obvious choice Sony could make regarding the character. Not only is he well-liked and already established, but he exists in a much wider Marvel Universe that would allow for significant crossovers with other heroes and villains.
There are no real negative aspects to making more Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland, particularly as the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home opened the door for new and exciting narratives set within the MCU.
9 Spider-Man And The Fantastic Four Spidey Should Team Up With Marvel's First Family In Live-Action Close As some of Spider-Man"s most frequent collaborators in the comics, the most interesting team-up Sony could pursue would be with the Fantastic Four. The other New York-based heroes have often fought alongside Spider-Man in the comics, and their friendship has been one of Spidey’s most consistent across his history. There are many reasons why making a Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four movie could work, and very few reasons why it wouldn’t.
Not only could the movie explore some lesser-known comic book storylines, but it would be a first to have the heroes together in live-action.
The Fantastic Four’s own cinematic past has been particularly troubled, and the promise of seeing them working alongside Spider-Man could prove a major draw. What’s more, the Fantastic Four are set to formally join the MCU in their own movie, potentially paving the way to a team-up down the line.
8 Ben Reilly As The Scarlet Spider Following Another Iteration Of Spider-Man Would Be A Welcome Change Close One of the more unexpected routes Sony could take regarding future Spider-Man movies would be to move away from the better-known incarnations of the hero. Putting aside Peter Parker and even Miles Morales, one of the other Spider-Man figures that could prove interesting enough for a solo movie would be Ben Reilly. In the comics, Reilly is a clone of Peter Parker who adopts the mantle of the Scarlet Spider.
Moving away from some of the more well-known versions of Spider-Man might be the wisest choice Sony could make. Though there may be some risk involved in making such a change,
it could help distance the hypothetical movie from other franchises in a way that retains Spider-Man"s charm, but remains distinct from other iterations. Whether Sony would actually commit to a Scarlet Spider movie remains to be seen, but it would certainly be an interesting prospect.
7 A Sinister Six Movie One Of The Oldest Unfulfilled Teases Should Be Paid Off Close Despite being one of the longest-teased movies in the history of Spider-Man, an adaptation of the Sinister Six has yet to come to fruition. The comics have seen various groups of villains adopt the moniker, meaning that any adaptation would have a wealth of potential characters to choose from. Considering how regularly the idea has been set up – most recently by Morbius’ post-credits scene - it’s baffling that it has never materialized.
The regular set-up for such a movie has become stale, and seeing the team finally take shape could make it all worth it, if handled correctly.
Bringing the Sinister Six to life in live-action on the big screen after so many years could be a major cinematic event for Spider-Man, with the hero facing his most difficult challenge yet. It’s something that Sony should absolutely seek to make, especially as they’ve already teased it in the past.
6 Spider-Man Vs Venom The Pair Have Not Satisfying Fought In Live-Action Close There are very few supporting Spider-Man characters as popular as Venom. Initially a villain, but more commonly written as anti-hero, Venom has become one of the most famous figures in Spider-Man"s rouges’ gallery. Even though Venom has appeared in multiple live-action movies, the villain has only faced Spider-Man once, and it unfortunately left much to be desired.
Bringing a Spider-Man vs. Venom story to life in live-action in a satisfying manner would be a huge win for Sony. Considering the general success of Tom Hardy’s iteration of the symbiotic anti-hero, and the multiple teases that he might cross over to the MCU, it would be logical to have him face an existing Spider-Man. However, complications stemming from Venom: The Last Dance’s ending might make such an approach difficult, and would therefore require Sony to get creative should they opt to pit the characters against one another.
5 Spider-Man & Daredevil Two Of Marvel's Best Street-Level Heroes Should Team Up Close Another live-action crossover that could well be a must-see movie would be Spider-Man and Daredevil. As two of Marvel’s best-known and most popular street level heroes, the team-up would be unmissable for any Marvel fan. Both have seen both successful and less successful adaptations in modern superhero movies, but never have the pair been adapted into live-action together.
With both characters already existing in the MCU, establishing a crossover would not be difficult at all. After Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock represent Tom Holland’s Spider-Man as his lawyer, it would seem that
a Spider-Man and Daredevil movie could well be on the horizon. As audiences have loved previous stories featuring Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, the team-up would appear to be mutually beneficial and would almost certainly guarantee success with fans of the two heroes.
4 Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man 4 Sam Raimi's Franchise Had More Stories To Tell Close As Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies helped establish the superhero genre as a box office gold mine, it’s hardly surprising that nostalgic fans would love to see Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man return. The initial trilogy did a superb job of adapting Spider-Man into live-action, and Maguire’s return in Spider-Man: No Way Home confirmed that audiences still love his iteration of Peter Parker. All things considered, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 is a film a lot of people would love to see Sony make.
The legacy sequel could follow an older Spider-Man, who balances his superhero work with family life.
Exploring an older version of the hero is something that has never really been tried in live-action, despite there being many comic book stories to adapt to that effect. The most logical way to do so would be to bring back Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, fulfilling multiple Spider-Man wishes at once.
3 A Solo Spider-Woman Movie There Are Many Ways Sony Could Make A Spider-Woman Movie Close Though Spider-Man himself is one of Marvel’s most iconic heroes, his female counterparts receive considerably less attention. However, recent movies have made attempts to rectify this, introducing iterations of Gwen Stacy as Ghost Spider, and various other Spider-Women as part of the cast of the ill-fated Madame Web. However, one thing that Sony should consider making is a solo Spider-Woman movie.
The best part about the idea is the broad variety of approaches that could be taken. There have been many characters to adopt the mantle of Spider-Woman over the years, including the fan-favorite Gwen Stacy, who has already appeared in multiple movies.
There are many easy avenues to explore the often-overlooked character from the wider Spider-Man mythos, and it’s something that Sony should undoubtedly consider doing in the near future in order to capitalize on that potential.
2 Miles Morales Deserves A Live-Action Movie Into The Spider-Verse Made Miles Morales Even More Popular Close When it comes to Spider-Man movies that Sony should make, few are as obvious as a live-action Miles Morales movie. As Peter Parker’s successor to the mantle, Miles Morales has become one of the most popular Marvel characters in recent years, thanks in part to his appearance in Sony’s animated Spider-Verse movies. The simple fact is, Miles Morales’ story puts a fresh spin on the classic Spider-Man tales, and would force Sony to try something truly new with regard to the character.
Seeing Miles Morales suit up in live-action is something that many fans have clamored for over the years, as his story is every bit as compelling as Peter Parker’s. A more modern take on the hero would be a welcome shift, as would the different supporting characters that play a part in Miles’ story.
There are no conceivable downsides or risks to adapting Miles Morales to the big screen in live-action, and it’s something Sony needs to do in the near future.
1 The Amazing Spider-Man 3 Should Be Sony's Biggest Priority Audiences Still Want More Of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man Close After Andrew Garfield’s appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, cries for Sony to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3 were loud and clear. The story of Garfield’s Spider-Man was cut tragically short by the initial underwhelming response to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, only for its later reappraisal to make a sequel seem like the logical thing to do. As he hinted at the dark turn of his story during his appearance in No Way Home, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is a more exciting prospect than ever.
Reviving the Amazing Spider-Man franchise to bring Garfield back for another adventure would be perfect. It could revive Sony’s own Spider-Man movies outside of the MCU, giving the hero even more chance to shine on the big screen. Considering the wishes of fans and the narrative potential, it’s one
Spider-Man movie that Sony should almost certainly seek to make.
