Chris Evans is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the star"s Avengers: Doomsday return sounds to me like the latest sign that past reports about major changes coming to the franchise are accurate. Evans" Captain America is my favorite MCU hero, and before he gave life to Steve Rogers, I had already enjoyed his portrayal of Johnny Storm in two Fantastic Four movies. After Avengers: Endgame, I maintained hope that future MCU movies would feature the star"s return. Thankfully, that happened earlier than I expected, with Evans playing the Human Torch again in this year"s Deadpool & Wolverine.
Recently, it was revealed that Chris Evans will star in Avengers: Doomsday, marking his return to Marvel"s biggest franchise. The news surprised me, as I only expected the Multiverse Saga to bring Evans back for Avengers: Secret Wars, not the next Avengers movie. Avengers: Doomsday"s cast also features Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, and I"m starting to think that their returns to the franchise, as well as some other recent developments at Marvel Studios, could lead to a major Avengers movie theory proving itself accurate in a few years.

Recently, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige commented on the MCU"s X-Men. Feige talked about how Avengers: Secret Wars will lead to the X-Men reboot in the MCU. While that is exciting, I found something else he said to be even more. According to Feige, X-Men players that fans might recognize will show up in the MCU"s "next few movies." The Marvels" post-credits scene showed what appears to be a variant of Kelsey Grammer"s Beast in a new X-Men universe. I believe that Marvel will have that universe as part of an incursion with the MCU, so Fox"s X-Men will return.

In October 2023, an Avengers: Secret Wars report claimed the MCU would be rebooted after the movie. The information came from MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios author Joanna Robinson, who said the book featured a quote from Kevin Feige implying that "Secret Wars will serve as a soft reboot" for the franchise. I always thought that made sense, as the comic book event that serves as the source material for the movie also did the same, changing things all over the Marvel universe, like bringing Miles Morales to the main universe.

Avengers: Secret Wars could then reboot the MCU and set up new actors as major characters. Those plans could be made clearer by Avengers: Doomsday.
