Who"s Playing Spider-Man Villain The Rhino In Kraven The Hunter

Sony Pictures has officially revealed the new Rhino actor for Aaron Taylor-Johnson's upcoming Spider-Man spinoff film, Kraven the Hunter. Things are going forward for Sony's Spider-Man Universe despite the critical and financial failure of Morbius. The next Spider-Man villain who is getting their own solo movie is Kraven, with Taylor-Johnson portraying him in live-action for the first time. However, the Kraven the Hunter cast will also feature the new cinematic interpretation of Rhino, who was last played by Paul Giamatti in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Now, a new actor will bring life to the Spider-Man villain as Sony Pictures confirmed at CinemaCon that Alessandro Nivola will play Rhino in Kraven the Hunter. The first Kraven the Hunter footage gave audiences a taste of the new Rhino. Nivola's body of work includes Boston Strangler, Jurassic Park 3, Selma, and The Main Saints of Newark.
How Kraven The Hunter Can Fix Rhino After The Amazing Spider-Man 2

While The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was obviously setting Rhino up for a bigger role in future sequels, Giamatti's interpretation was one of the most criticized aspects of the 2014 film. Not only was the Andrew Garfield-starring sequel packed with too many villains, but the movie wasted Rhino and reduced to him to being a slapstick-character. In the comics, Rhino is regarded as one of Spider-Man's most formidable foes, which was nowhere to be seen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. However, Kraven the Hunter is now getting a chance to redeem Rhino in live-action.
Even though very little is known about Kraven the Hunter's take on Rhino, the footage alone made it clear that they are taking Nivola's incarnation more seriously. Since Kraven the Hunter will be R-rated, the Sony installment is able to avoid making Rhino a joke again as they can tap into the more violent aspects of his character. Based on the little that was shown of Rhino at CinemaCon, the potential is definitely there.
Even though it's unclear where Sony's Spider-Man Universe is going as a franchise, these new details about Kraven the Hunter does make the film look a lot more promising. It will definitely be intriguing to discover which version of Rhino the film is pulling from in terms of the comics. More will no doubt be revealed when the Kraven the Hunter trailer is released this summer.
