Warning: This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along.
The newest possible member of the
Young Avengers in the MCU sets them up as the most powerful Avengers team Marvel Studios has ever brought to live-action. Even though there has been no official confirmation from Marvel Studios just yet, heavy speculation suggests the MCU"s Young Avengers team will soon be forming. Several young heroes have been introduced to the MCU in recent years, setting the stage for the exciting Avengers replacement team to debut, and Marvel Television"s recent Agatha All Along series featured the latest hint towards the team"s much-anticipated line-up.
While Agatha All Along may have introduced the most recent Young Avengers member,
the likes of Kamala Khan"s Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop"s Hawkeye and Cassie Lang"s Stature have already been established. The Young Avengers line-up is already gearing up to be very powerful, and Agatha All Along has only added to this impressive line-up. There has been speculation about a possible Young Avengers project in the MCU, which could seriously alter the franchise"s power rankings, rivaling the impact of any previous Avengers team.
Billy Maximoff’s Wiccan Is Ready To Join The Young Avengers After Agatha All Along Wiccan Is One Of The MCU's Most Powerful New Heroes
The most recent member of the Young Avengers to be teased in the MCU is Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. Wiccan. Initially played by Julian Hilliard in WandaVision, Billy Maximoff returned in the body of William Kaplan, played by Joe Locke, in Agatha All Along.
After William Kaplan was killed in a car accident on the day that the Scarlet Witch brought down the Hex around Westview, New Jersey, Billy Maximoff"s disembodied soul moved in. Three years later, hidden behind a magical sigil, Billy Maximoff joined Agatha Harkness and her coven on the Witches" Road, where she realized his true identity.

As Wiccan, Billy Maximoff"s power rivals that of his mother, Wanda Maximoff"s Scarlet Witch. He has access to Chaos Magic, like his mother, is adept at typical witchcraft abilities, and can control the minds of others. His similarities to his mother make Wiccan one of the MCU"s most formidable new heroes, which means the Young Avengers could be about to get a major upgrade.
Wiccan is one of the central members of the Young Avengers in Marvel Comics, with Billy Maximoff being revealed to have been reincarnated as Billy Kaplan in 2005"s Young Avengers #1.
Related Where Will Billy Maximoff Appear Next In The MCU? Every Possibility Explained Billy Maximoff debuted as Wiccan in earnest in Agatha All Along, and there are several possibilities for where he will next appear in the MCU.
Wiccan was a founding member of the Young Avengers in Marvel Comics, brought together by Vision and Iron Lad, an uncorrupted variant of Kang the Conqueror. With the Young Avengers, Wiccan found his reincarnated brother, Tommy Shepherd"s Speed, and reunited with his mother, the Scarlet Witch, which could be explored in the live-action MCU. Tommy Maximoff"s soul found a new body in Agatha All Along, and Billy and Agatha Harkness ghost are off to find him, perfectly setting up this huge Young Avengers storyline in the MCU"s future.
The Young Avengers Have Already Battled Some Of The MCU’s Most Powerful Villains MCU's Young Avengers Members Have Already Shown Incredible Power Close Wiccan"s remarkable level of power is very exciting for the MCU"s Young Avengers, but he is not the only powerful member of the team.
Several other notable young heroes in the MCU, many of whom are ready to join the Young Avengers, have already taken on some of the most formidable supervillains Marvel Studios has ever adapted into live-action. Most notably, the first hero to be teased for the Young Avengers, Iman Vellani"s Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, took on Kree villain Dar-Benn and has access to the Quantum Bands, making her a supremely powerful character in the MCU.
Related The MCU Officially Confirms The First 3 Young Avengers Members The Young Avengers just made a giant step forward to joining the MCU as a new replacement for the original superhero team. Here"s who assembled.
As well as Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang have also shown off some impressive abilities in their respective MCU projects.
Hawkeye saw Hailee Steinfeld"s Kate Bishop fight and defeat Wilson Fisk"s Kingpin single-handedly, while also holding her ground against Black Widow Yelena Belova. In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Kathryn Newton"s Cassie Lang journeyed into the Quantum Realm and took on major Multiverse Saga antagonist Kang the Conqueror, while other Young Avengers candidates have also proven their worth.
So far, only Kamala Khan and Kate Bishop have been officially teased to become Young Avengers in the MCU, as the ending of The Marvels saw Kamala approach the new Hawkeye with the proposition of bringing together a team.
Xochitl Gomez"s America Chavez bested the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which could cause some conflict if both she and Billy Maximoff are recruited for the Young Avengers. Jack Veal"s Kid Loki has survived in the Void for an indeterminate amount of time, Dominique Thorne"s Riri Williams battled the Talokanil and Namor, and will fight the Hood in Ironheart, and Thor"s adoptive daughter, Love, is borne from Eternity. Even Billy Maximoff helped Agatha Harkness to battle Death itself, so
the Young Avengers team is shaping up to be incredibly powerful indeed.
Why The Young Avengers Are So Exciting For The MCU The Young Avengers Have Been Built Up Throughout The Multiverse Saga
Since 2019"s Avengers: Endgame saw the Avengers team up in battle against Thanos and his armies, the Avengers team has been inactive in the MCU. This was confirmed in the trailers for 2025"s upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, as President Ross will urge Sam Wilson"s Captain America to rebuild the Avengers in the Phase 5 movie. The absence of the Avengers has left a huge void in the MCU, and
while the team is set to reform in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars in Phase 6, new teams could also debut to replace them.
While Marvel Studios is gearing up to introduce the Thunderbolts and the Fantastic Four in 2025,
other teams, such as the West Coast Avengers, the Defenders and the X-Men, have also been teased to appear in the MCU. The Young Avengers team is expected to join them, and while these other groups will include some of the MCU"s most powerful adult characters, the Young Avengers will give them a run for their money. Including the likes of Ms. Marvel, the new Hawkeye, Stature and Wiccan, the
Young Avengers will be a huge threat to any villain in the MCU.
