For a lot of fans, it felt like a slap in the face after the Mandarin was built up so well throughout the film. The conclusion of Iron Man"s trilogy promised to have him come face-to-face with his biggest comic book foe, but the rug pull felt unsatisfactory, with Aldrich Killian calling himself the Mandarin as a third-act plot twist.
