“Another Child Sacrifice”: Marvel May Have Already Explained What Happened To Agatha’s Son In Agatha All Along

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along episode 2, "Circle Sewn with Fate/Unlock Thy Hidden Gate"
Marvel Studios may have already revealed what happened to Nicholas Scratch in Agatha All Along, as Agatha Harkness" mysterious son may have been the tragic victim of a terrible sacrifice. Although her MCU debut in WandaVision was celebrated, Kathryn Hahn"s Agatha Harkness has already seen much more development as the Head Witch in Charge of Agatha All Along"s incredible cast. While little has yet been revealed about Agatha"s backstory, there have been hints that the original Salem witch may have experienced the tragic loss of her child.
The appearance of WandaVision"s Señor Scratchy, Agatha Harkness" pet rabbit, began to tease the live-action debut of Harkness" son from Marvel Comics, Nicholas Scratch. While he didn"t receive a mention in WandaVision, Agatha All Along has confirmed that Nicholas Scratch did indeed exist, but he has been noticeably absent from Marvel Television"s most recent series. While Nicholas Scratch"s absence remains a mystery, a new theory could explain exactly what happened to him.
Nicholas Scratch’s Absence In Agatha All Along Is A Mystery Nicholas Scratch Has Been Teased In Agatha All Along Nicholas Scratch was first introduced to Marvel Comics as a villain to the Fantastic Four in 1977"s Fantastic Four #185. He initially resided in New Salem, Colorado, a community of magic users, and he managed to turn the entire town against former resident Agatha Harkness, his own mother. Nicholas Scratch, an amalgam of euphemistic names for the Devil, Old Nick and Old Scratch, also fathered seven children, who became the Salem Seven. While the Salem Seven have made their debut in Agatha All Along, Nicholas Scratch is yet to appear.
Related 10 Biggest Agatha All Along Theories That Would Change The MCU After Its First Two Episodes Agatha All Along has already introduced multiple hooks for fascinating theories in the first two episodes, with the potential to change the MCU.
Despite not making a physical appearance, Nicholas Scratch has been referenced several times in Agatha All Along. Audiences have glimpsed his childhood bedroom, a child"s drawings could be seen strewn around, an image of him could be seen in Agnes O"Connor"s office, and it"s presumably a lock of Scratch"s hair in Agatha Harkness" pendant. Agatha All Along hasn"t yet confirmed why Nicholas Scratch is missing, but the series has alluded to his tragic ending, making Agatha Harkness herself seem even more villainous.
Agatha Harkness May Have Sacrificed Her Son To Acquire The Darkhold Agatha Harkness Was The Owner Of The Darkhold Prior To WandaVision Close Ever since promotional material for Agatha All Along revealed the image of the Darkhold seemingly wrapped up in a crib, theories have been rife suggesting that Agatha Harkness may have sacrificed her young son to acquire the Book of the Damned. Agatha Harkness was the owner of the Darkhold prior to WandaVision, and her desire to get the Darkhold back has been an important plot point in Agatha All Along. Wanda Maximoff"s Scarlet Witch stole the Darkhold, but Agatha may feel it somehow represents her son, Nicholas Scratch.

Sasheer Zamata"s Kale questions whether "Teen" is "another child sacrifice," hinting at the idea that Agatha Harkness has sacrificed a child before, and that this is indeed common knowledge among the witch community. Sacrificing her child in exchange for the Darkhold would certainly put Agatha Harkness on the map, and while this theory is incredibly dark, it could lead to Agatha becoming a bona-fide hero in Agatha All Along.
MCU Theory Turns Agatha Harkness Into A Hero At The End Of The Witches’ Road The Witches' Road Could Redeem Agatha Harkness Currently, it seems as though Agatha Harkness is journeying down the Witches" Road to get back the power that was stolen by the Scarlet Witch in WandaVision"s finale. This seems like an appropriate self-absorbed and dangerous endeavor for the witch, but it"s possible that her experience on the Witches" Road in Agatha All Along"s upcoming episodes could change her mind. In fact, Agatha Harkness could instead wish for her son to be resurrected in the finale of Agatha All Along, allowing the Witches" Road to offer her redemption, suggesting she"s not as villainous as she may seem.
