Featuring some major deaths and some exciting connections to the greater DCU, the Creature Commandos finale is full of surprises as it brings this first season to a close.
To that end, here are the biggest and best Easter eggs and references we were able to find in Creature Commandos episode 7.
All 11 DCU Easter Eggs and References in Creature Commandos Episode 7 "A Very Funny Monster"
- "Ghost Rider" - The Bride calls Doctor Phosphorus "Ghost Rider", the classic burning skeletal Marvel hero with whom Phosphorus obviously shares a resemblance.
- Nina’s Father - Nina"s origins have their differences from the comics, though her father Edward Mazursky is still a scientist, trying to cure his daughter using the DNA of aquatic animals. On the page, Doctor Mazursky played a key role in founding the Creature Commandos (though that"s not the case in the DCU).
- Major Comics Locations Referenced In The DCU - Nina lived in Star City as a child, home to the hero Green Arrow. Likewise, Star City News confirms the existence of Nightwing"s city of Bludhaven and also references Superman"s city of Metropolis.
- Weasel Can’t Swim - It"s mentioned that Weasel can"t swim in Creature Commandos, something that was hilariously proven in 2021"s The Suicide Squad when Weasel nearly died almost immediately by drowning as no one on Waller"s team had checked to see if he could swim or not.
- Mary Shelley"s Mathilda - The Bride is shown looking at Rostovic"s collection of books before she kills Ilana, and she stops on Mathilda. This was the book Mary Shelley wrote following Frankenstein.
- "A Sadistic Disney Princess" - The Bride refers to Illana as "a power-mad, sadistic, narcissistic, Disney princess who wants to destroy the world". The Disney princess call-out is rather fitting, seeing how Illana was framed exactly like a stereotypical innocent and kind Disney Princess throughout the entire series.
- She-Bat - Francine Langstrom"s She-Bat is featured as a new recruit for Task Force M. The wife of Kirk Langstrom"s Man-Bat, She-Bat was featured in earlier episodes of Creature Commandos.
- Aten or Khalis II - A mummy is shown knitting in the background of Task Force M"s new wing. This is likely either Aten or Khalis II, both DC mummies with Creature Commandos history on the page.
- An Upgraded G.I. Robot - Waller had G.I. Robot rebuilt following Creature Commandos episode 4, albeit with a much larger new body.
- King Shark - Having first debuted in 2021"s The Suicide Squad, Nanaue aka King Shark is an incredibly fitting new addition to Task Force M.
- Eric Frankenstein Is Still Alive - Creature Commandos" post-credits scene confirms Eric survived his new wounds from The Bride, suggesting he"ll also return in the future of the DCU show.
All episodes of Creature Commandos are now streaming on Max.
