Damian Wayne"s DCU Debut Has Already Made My Dream Live-Action Morena Baccarin DC Casting More Possible Than Ever
Morena Baccarin is one of the best actors to appear in any DC Universe project, and I can"t stop thinking about the perfect role for her in
Batman: The Brave and the Bold. The new film is set to debut Damian Wayne as Robin, who, with everything known about Dynamic Duo, may be only one of several Robins in the universe.
Introducing Damian Wayne in the film is a unique choice, and it"s one that comes with an incredible amount of possibility. Following this, there are some perfect casting options for some important supporting characters available.
Production on The Brave and the Bold seems to still be a ways off, although that has not stopped many from considering the casting of the film. Castings like Jensen Ackles or Glen Powell as Batman have circled for some time, with less of a focus on the supporting cast.
As the universe expands, however, this supporting cast will be paramount to the success of the film and the universe. Morena Baccarin would be absolutely perfect for a role that is sure to appear in the film, and I can"t stop thinking about it.
Morena Baccarin Has Proved She's The Perfect DCU Talia Al Ghul Casting Twice Already The Actor Has Voiced The Character In Two Animated Films Close Morena Baccarin is no stranger to DC roles, but even more specifically, she has already provided the voice for Damian"s mother, Talia al Ghul, on two separate occasions.
She voiced the character in 2014"s Son of Batman before reprising the role in 2016’s Batman: Bad Blood. Baccarin brought incredible complexity to the role, with a charismatic performance that worked well with the animation style. Bringing some of this to the big screen with Baccarin reprising the role in live-action would be incredible.
In addition, Baccarin has voiced in other superhero series and played Jim Gordon"s love interest in Gotham. The actor even starred in the Deadpool films as Vanessa, a character with style and spunk that is distinctly different from Talia, yet I believe she shares some similarities to do with their attitude and charisma.
Baccarin coming back to play this character in live-action would be an incredible way to tie the new DCU in with some of its previous animated releases.
Damian Wayne's DCU Debut Confirmation Makes Talia Al Ghul's Appearance Almost Inevitable Introducing Damian Without His Mother Would Be A Strange Choice Close The full story of The Brave and the Bold has not been made clear, although it seems inevitable that Damian"s family will play a large part.
The film will see Batman becoming a father, and it is unlikely that this will happen without some examination of his relationship with the boy"s mother. Whichever direction the film goes, having Talia al Ghul feels almost assured, as it would be difficult to craft these circumstances in a satisfying way without her.
With the opportunity to focus on the romance between Talia and Bruce, or her villainous attachments to groups like the League of Shadows, not including Damian"s mother in The Brave and the Bold feels incredibly unlikely.
Talia has only had one live-action portrayal in Batman movies, with Marion Cotillard playing her in some strange The Dark Knight Rises scenes.
The character, however, has an extensive comic book history and could make for an excellent addition to the DCU. With the opportunity to focus on the romance between Talia and Bruce, or her villainous attachments to groups like the League of Shadows, not including Damian"s mother in The Brave and the Bold feels incredibly unlikely.
Why Morena Baccarin's Talia Al Ghul Would Be Perfect For The DCU The DCU Is Looking To Provide A Cohesive Universe Across All Mediums Close
Morena Baccarin clearly cares about DC, and has proven herself willing to work in different mediums. With the DCU planning on using the same performers in live-action as in animation, and potentially even in video games, they will need performers that care enough about the projects to work cross-platform. Baccarin has already done this, and it seems likely that she would be willing to do more. Aside from her excellent style and charisma, she is clearly a committed actor who works hard to contribute.
This version of Talia al Ghul would therefore align the old and the new of DC, with Baccarin already being an accomplished actor in the DC space.
With Batman"s casting (and thus age) unknown, it remains to be seen if she, at 45, is the proper age for the role, but Baccarin is a good enough fit to play Talia that it does not matter. With an extensive library of dependable and excellent performers required in the new universe, and with Baccarin unconfirmed to return to a possible Deadpool 4, I believe the future for her at DC makes a lot of sense.
