The Jedi Knew Palpatine"s Most Dangerous Force Power - And Taught It During The Clone Wars

One of Palpatine’s most useful Force abilities in the Star Wars canon and Legends continuities was, surprisingly, used by Jedi before their destruction. Palpatine’s horrific fascist coup was gradually and methodically executed throughout the Star Wars prequel trilogy, with the Sith Lord hiding in plain sight using both his keen intellect and his dark side powers. One such power allowed Palpatine to hide his considerable (and often disturbing) presence in the Force from the Jedi Order’s best and brightest, yet this very power was used by the Jedi themselves during the Clone Wars and other eras in both timelines.
The Force and its dark side grant limitless abilities to its users, though some powers seem intrinsically tied to one more than the other. For instance, Force lightning is one of the dark side’s signature abilities, yet the Jedi have their own iteration of it called Electric Judgment, which uses the natural and balanced Force, instead of its corrupted dark side. Palpatine was easily the galaxy’s most powerful dark side user, employing one particular ability almost constantly during his facade of benevolence as a senator and later Supreme Chancellor. Whether this ability is intrinsic to the dark side is debatable, since the Jedi themselves use it, too.
