Ahsoka & Rey Have Stolen Luke Skywalker"s Biggest Post-OT Stories (& It Makes Them Better)
After the recent announcements from Lucasfilm about
Star Wars' future from Star Wars Celebration 2023 (SWCE), it is clear Luke Skywalker's Legends stories from after the original trilogy are being handed to Rey and Ahsoka Tano. While this may annoy a particular section of the Star Wars fanbase that holds Luke's Legends stories close to their heart, Rey and Ahsoka being given these stories will serve the franchise better in the long run. With two of the three Star Wars films announced at SWCE 2023 centering on Rey and Ahsoka, the future of the Force revolves around these two characters.
It was announced at the convention that Daisy Ridley would return to the Star Wars franchise as Rey in a story placed 15 years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The film will center on Rey rebuilding the Jedi Order in Star Wars, with another movie promised that will culminate the New Republic era of Star Wars and the interconnected story of The Mandalorian's universe. The latter film will include Ahsoka in her battle against Grand Admiral Thrawn, something that will start being set up in 2023's Ahsoka. These stories have been attributed to Luke in both Legends and canon in the past, though the new takes will improve them.
