Black Panther 3 Sees Doctor Doom Face Off Against Wakanda In Huge MCU Theory

According to a brilliant new MCU theory, Marvel Studios has already set up Doctor Doom as Wakanda"s perfect villain in the upcoming Black Panther 3. After the huge success of 2018"s Black Panther and the touching storyline of 2022"s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it seemed inevitable that Coogler would set to work on a sequel, continuing to expand the world of Wakanda and the Black Panther in the MCU. Black Panther 3 is in development at Marvel Studios, and the perfect Marvel Comics storyline for the sequel has already been teased.
Speaking on The Today Show in November 2024, Hollywood legend Denzel Washington revealed that Ryan Coogler is writing a role for him in Black Panther 3. These comments confirmed that Black Panther 3 is in development for the MCU, raising speculation about what story the as-yet-unannounced sequel would explore. According to a new theory, Marvel Studios has already set up the perfect storyline for Black Panther 3, thanks to the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and updates concerning Doctor Doom"s role in the MCU"s Phase 6.

The theory notes that Marvel Comics" Doomwar from 2010 would be a great event to adapt in Black Panther 3, as this storyline centers around Doctor Doom inciting an invasion of Wakanda to steal the nation"s vibranium resources. Marvel Studios confirmed that Doctor Doom would be debuting in the MCU during 2024"s SDCC presentation, with Robert Downey Jr. assuming the role in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars after previously playing Tony Stark"s Iron Man. Downey Jr."s recasting and Wakanda Forever"s storyline have perfectly set-up Doomwar for Black Panther 3.

In the storyline, the Desturi, a group who wanted to return Wakanda to its isolationist ways, had taken over the nation with the aid of Doctor Doom and had put Wakanda"s Queen Ororo Munroe, a.k.a. X-Men member Storm and T"Challa"s wife, on trial. Black Panthers T"Challa and Shuri sought help from the X-Men to save Storm and bring down the Desturi, and they were successful, but they didn"t stop Doctor Doom from stealing Wakanda"s vibranium.

Eventually, T"Challa activated a weapon that rendered the world"s vibranium inert, which allowed Doctor Doom to be defeated, but had huge repercussions for Wakanda and the Black Panthers, which would be incredible to see in the MCU"s Black Panther 3.
Black Panther 3’s Doomwar Could Debut Some Of The MCU’s Most Exciting New Characters Marvel Comics' Doomwar Included Many Characters Who'd Be Perfect For The MCU

While Doomwar focused primarily on Doctor Doom and the Black Panthers, the storyline also included a huge number of other Marvel heroes that would be great to see appear in Black Panther 3. Most notably, at November"s Disney APAC Content Showcase, Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently teased the appearance of notable X-Men characters in upcoming MCU projects (via Deadline). The X-Men play a huge role in Marvel Comics" Doomwar, so it would make sense for new versions of Storm, Wolverine, Cyclops and more to debut in Black Panther 3.

I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize. Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.

As well as the X-Men, the Fantastic Four also play a key role in Marvel Comics" Doomwar, so Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach could appear as Marvel"s First Family in Black Panther 3 after their upcoming debut in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This would also be the perfect opportunity to bring Ryan Reynolds" Deadpool back to the MCU after Deadpool & Wolverine. By including these exciting new Marvel Studios heroes, Black Panther 3 could become one of the MCU"s most important movies with crossover potential similar to that of Captain America: Civil War.
