Lady Gaga Jokes About Poor Reception Of Joker 2 On SNL, "Celebrates" Razzie Win

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.During her hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, Lady Gaga used her monologue to catch up on her life since her last appearance on the show in 2013. One major shift was Gaga"s choice to become an actress, appearing in A Star Is Born, House of Gucci, and most infamously, Joker: Folie a Deux. The film was critically panned, and it underperformed financially, grossing $206 million globally against a $200 million budget. Moreover, Gaga and costar Joaquin Phoenix won Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzies, for their performances as Harleen "Lee" Quinzel and Arthur Fleck/Joker.
The multi-hyphenate star lampooned herself on the comedy sketch series by calling attention to her attempts at becoming an actress. Gaga explained: "Anyway, I"m an actor now, and I"ve been very diligent about selecting films that would showcase my craft as a serious actor." She then addressed the elephant in the room—Joker 2"s reception:
"Apparently, people thought it was awesome, and Joaquin and I even got nominated for a Razzie, which is an award for the worst films of the year. So we won for "Worst on Screen" duo... But joke"s on them—I love winning things, and my Razzie brings me one step closer to an EGORT. It"s like an EGOT, but it"s hurtful."
She then concludes the monologue with: "So tonight I promise to act, to sing, and to not do Joker 3."
What Lady Gaga's Joker 2 Comments Mean Close Previously, Lady Gaga discussed Joker 2"s lackluster box office performance, offering a blunt take on the situation. She explained: "People just sometimes don"t like some things. It’s that simple. And I think to be an artist, you have to be willing for people to sometimes not like it. You keep going even if something didn’t connect in the way that you intended."
