I Can't Believe Alan Ritchson Is Becoming A Popular Casting Suggestion To Play Aquaman In James Gunn's DC Universe (But I Would Like To See It)

Alan Ritchson has put up his name many times to play Batman in the new DC Universe, but I"m shocked that, in addition to that role, many on the internet have fancast him as the next Aquaman. This is an excellent selection, as while there are many that could be cast as Batman, there have been very few suggestions for a new Aquaman. Previously played by Jason Momoa, the character has built an exciting cinematic legacy, starring in the biggest DCEU film that was released.
Aquaman is a beloved character, and has only had a couple of live-action iterations over the years. Jason Momoa will now play Lobo in the DCU, but his time as Aquaman is fondly remembered. The character was transformed, however, and fit to Momoa"s personality, rather than the other way around. Because of this, many still wish for a more classic approach to the Justice League hero. That approach has been taken previously on television, and one of the actors who played him then has a surprising connection to Alan Ritchson.
Alan Ritchson Being A Popular Casting Choice For Aquaman Ignores His Smallville History Ritchson Played The Role On TV Beginning In 2005 Close That connection is that Alan Ritchson himself played Aquaman on Smallville in 2005. This was among the actor"s first roles, and quickly led to an Aquaman spinoff. In production on its pilot, Ritchson was recast by Justin Hartley, due to his inexperience. The episode then did not get picked up for the series. Ritchson"s time as the character cannot be ignored, although many different posts have come up over the years, seemingly forgetting that he has already played this role.
Ritchson has become a popular casting choice for Aquaman, and many comments seem to forget Ritchson’s DC history. Having become even more prominent in recent years for his performance in Reacher, Ritchson has become one of the most popular television stars of the moment, and has parlayed that into some big-screen success. With roles in films like Fast X, more seem to be becoming aware of the actor"s work, and are now wishing to see him in superhero roles.
Why Alan Ritchson Would Still Be A Great Aquaman In Gunn's DC Universe He Was Great Before, And He's Now A Bigger Star Than Ever Close Ritchson has already played Aquaman, and he did a great job with it. The actor resembles a much more classic iteration of the character, with blonde hair and an incredible physique. Ritchson has the range and intensity required to play the character, and his version of the hero would feel distinctly different from Jason Momoa"s. This difference in iteration might be enough to justify his casting in this role. After all, it worked before, and Ritchson is now a bigger star than ever.
However, I think that there are other roles that Ritchson could play in the new DCU. The actor does not seem to be campaigning as hard for Aquaman as he is for Batman, suggesting that he has his own idea of the kinds of heroes he"d like to play. Aquaman may not be one of them. I"d like an Aquaman in the DCU who actually wants the role above all else. If Ritchson is going to be in the DCU, I"d like it to be in his dream role, not as a consolation prize.
