Harley Quinn season 5, episode 8 sees Harley and Ivy on the outs at the worst time. Having taken over Brainiac"s skull ship and technology, Lena Luthor intends to shrink the entire city of Metropolis while remaking it into her own image. To that end, she intentionally set events in motion to keep Harley and Ivy divided, knowing full well that they"re stronger when they"re together.
Picking up right where Harley Quinn season 5, episode 7 left off, Poison Ivy is enraged that Harley trusted Lena to help save her life, as Lena had murdered Frank the Plant backstage at Clayface"s Brainiac musical. Now, Lena has taken Frankette hostage to keep Harley and Ivy further divided. This leads to two separate trials for Harley and Ivy in this new episode, so here"s our recap, ending explained, and the few Easter eggs/references we found in Harley Quinn season 5, episode 8.
Harley Quinn Season 5, Episode 8 Recap "Family Feud" Close

Angry with Harley, Poison Ivy decides to save Frankette herself, while Harley"s dad calls to share that Harley"s mother has died.
Ivy visits a depressed Bruce who"s been ghosted by Lena to see if he knows how to get to her in Brainiac"s ship.
Harley"s dad lied about her mom being dead to lure her home, and quickly knocks her out.
Poison Ivy fights to get past Gail, an advanced security system that looks and acts like an old lady who takes up people"s time (and is also armed to the teeth).
Harley"s dad reveals Lena paid him to keep her away from Metropolis, and he wants to cut her up and sell Harley"s organs on the black market.
Ivy uses the override she got from Bruce to stop Gail, only to find Lena"s teleporter damaged beyond repair.
Harley breaks free just in time to fight goons hired by Lena, while Lena sends automatons after Ivy.
During the fighting, Harley"s dad was shot and killed in the crossfire. After a brief funeral, Harley returns to Metropolis (joined by her mother).
Lena starts remaking Metropolis in ways her brother Lex would hate, turning the buildings teal and changing his company to LenaCorp.
Reading Lena"s journal, Ivy and Harley discover that Lena"s hatred of Lex is the key, and he might be their way to stop her.
Ivy, Harley, and Sharon break Lex out of Blackgate, but Lena shrunk Metropolis while they were gone.

Poison Ivy and Harley Were Too Late To Stop Lena Luthor Metropolis Has Already Been Shrunk

After Ivy fails getting to Lena on her own and Harley escapes her father who subsequently died in the crossfire of her fight with Lena"s goons, the two reconcile and work together to save Metropolis and get Frankette back. Discovering how much Lena hates her brother (and secretly cares what he thinks), Ivy and Harley break Lex out of Blackgate to use him as leverage, hoping that Lex will be able to get through to Lena and hopefully give them enough time to stop her. However, Lena has already shrunk and bottled the city by the time they make it back to Metropolis.
