After 1 MCU Actor"s Recent Comments About Almost Being Cast As Captain America, I Need Their Current Character To Meet The Marvel Hero
A current
Marvel Cinematic Universe performer recently spoke about how they were originally up for the titular role in Captain America: The First Avenger, and
now I really want to see the two performers on screen together in their respective roles. While Captain America has been replaced by Sam Wilson, whose film will have many first on-screen appearances for Marvel characters including Red Hulk, Chris Evans is confirmed to return to the universe soon. Following this, I believe it would be possible to see him onscreen with this incredible villain who nearly had his role.
Many actors were nearly cast in MCU roles through the years.
Some of the most well-known include Emily Blunt"s Black Widow, Tom Hiddleston"s Thor, and Zooey Deschanel"s Wasp, although there were many more. As the years go on, it is interesting to see actors come forward to discuss roles that they nearly had. The Captain America conversation was incredibly interesting and gives a bit of insight into the wider outlook that the casting process allows, ensuring the actors genuinely fit their roles.
Wilson Bethel Was Almost Cast As The MCU's First Captain America The Actor Will Next Appear As Bullseye In Daredevil: Born Again Close Wilson Bethel, star of Netflix"s Daredevil, was nearly cast in the role of Captain America for The First Avenger. The actor spoke about the audition at Fan Expo, where he gave some insight into the casting process.
Bethel had comparably few credits to his name at the time, which may have resulted in his not getting the role, but he did get fairly far in the process. Imagining such a great Marvel villain as Captain America would be such an interesting contrast with the role that he now plays.
John Krasinski was also in consideration to play Captain America.
Casting MCU characters is a complex thing, as the heroes and villains often go on to become such important parts of the larger universe. Bethel said that he felt likely to get the role at the time, noting how he
"went through multiple rounds of screen testing, and the suit felt incredible." Still, it is good to know that he was able to make an impact at the studio, and that potentially led to his casting as another major Marvel character several years later.
Wilson Bethel Still Ended Up Being Cast As A Major Marvel Character The Actor Played Bullseye In Netflix's Daredevil Close Following in the footsteps of a 20-year old Bullseye mistake by casting Colin Farrell in the role,
Netflix"s Daredevil gave what I believe to be the most compelling Bullseye yet seen in the final season of the show. Bullseye is incredibly important to Marvel Comics and to Daredevil stories, being considered one of the hero"s greatest foes. With stories that centered around Kingpin and Elektra told, Bullseye was the natural choice for the series, and much of this story was done incredibly well, with some great original details.
Bethel was an excellent Bullseye, and the story he had was great, although it certainly seems there is more ahead. Giving him a difficult backstory allowed the character to have greater texture, and seeing his volatility was genuinely terrifying. I think
the Bullseye performance was so strong that it actually makes it hard to imagine Bethel as Captain America. Casting the actor in this iconic villain role was likely the right choice, although I can"t help but wonder what he would have been like as Steve Rogers.
Wilson Bethel Is Set To Officially Debut In The MCU In 2025 The Actor Will Next Appear In Daredevil: Born Again Close While the character is not likely to be the main villain of the new show,
Benjamin Poindexter will be making his official debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. Following the Netflix series and its story, the trailer hints that Bullseye may be locked away in prison during the new season. This could lead to a relationship similar to the one Daredevil and Kingpin shared in later seasons of the Netflix show, and it would be interesting to see that dynamic explored.
While the canon of the Netflix series was previously disputed, this new series was made with a mind to more directly integrate the heroes and villains into the larger world.
Daredevil: Born Again looks to engage with more of the world from the Netflix series, but it is also more directly connected with the MCU as a whole. While the canon of the Netflix series was previously disputed, this new series was made with a mind to more directly integrate the heroes and villains into the larger world. This has already happened with Daredevil and Kingpin appearing in other shows like Echo, and could suggest a complicated and exciting future for Bullseye in the MCU.
How Wilson Bethel's Bullseye Can Meet Captain America In The MCU There Are A Number Of Ways This Meeting Could Occur Close There are all kinds of ways that Wilson Bethel"s Bullseye could cross paths with Captain America in the MCU. Sam Wilson"s new take on the character appears to be a prominent feature in the forthcoming Avengers films, which will likely see Daredevil appear.
Bullseye could serve a role in those films, allowing the two to cross paths on screen. However, the character appearing alongside Sam Wilson would not be quite as impactful as if they were to meet Steve Rogers.
Chris Evans is also returning for the Avengers sequels, although it is unclear in what capacity. Whatever role the character plays, however,
it could be interesting to see a comparison onscreen between Steve Rogers and Benjamin Poindexter. Inside the Multiverse Saga, the series could even go bigger with this, by bringing in Wilson Bethel as a variant of Steve Rogers, or even by using him in the role after the rumored post-Avengers: Secret Wars reboot.
Related The MCU’s New Canon Update Makes A Daredevil: Born Again Villain Way More Terrifying The MCU"s head of streaming has recently clarified how past TV shows fit into the MCU, and the confirmation makes a Daredevil villain way scarier.
Posts Wilson Bethel is perfect in the role of Bullseye, although examining potential castings like this is a lot of fun.
Marvel is willing to make winks and nods to their own history in their films, as was clearly shown by Chris Evans" cameo as Johnny Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine. Whatever they do next with Bullseye, I am excited to see more of Wilson Bethel in the
Marvel Cinematic Universe, and would be curious to see any way that he might fit into the story of Avengers: Secret Wars.
