Marvel"s Echo Soundtrack Guide: Every Song In All 5 Episodes Of The MCU Show

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Marvel Studios' Echo.
Summary
  • Marvel Studios' Echo breaks the mold with its varied soundtrack, using songs to set the tone of each scene, unlike other Disney+ Marvel shows.
  • Echo's soundtrack reflects the show's grounded and realistic approach, focusing on familial bonds and Maya Lopez's Choctaw heritage.
  • The songs in Echo are not original compositions but carefully chosen tracks that fit each scene, meaning they can be found on major streaming platforms.
Marvel Studios' Echo features a varied soundtrack across its five episodes that is utilized to set the tone of disparate scenes. More so than any other Marvel Disney+ TV show, Echo is keen to employ a soundtrack where needed. Most other Disney+ installments have been more reliant on orchestral scores over the soundtracks, especially in the cases of Loki or Moon Knight. By the time of the Echo show's climactic ending, it is clear that this is not the case with Marvel Studios' first Spotlight entry.

Marvel Studios' New Banner & MCU Connections Explained With Marvels' Disney+ TV series Echo, Marvel launches a new banner, Marvel Spotlight, which makes some MCU content easier to watch by itself. The heavier usage of the soundtrack in Echo over the aforementioned Disney+ shows also set in the MCU certainly makes sense given the show's more grounded tone. By the time Echo's post-credit scene wraps up, it has been made abundantly clear that the show is much more inclined to tell a story about familial bonds and thus more realistic characters than the gods and titans of the franchise's past. As such, utilizing songs that appear in everyday life is a logical choice for Echo, as are the soundtrack inclusions that tie more to Maya Lopez's Choctaw heritage.

When Every Song Plays In Echo Here is every moment in which the various songs are played during Echo's five episodes. "Burnin'" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs - This song plays in every episode of Echo over the opening credits. The song accompanies the cast listings and graphic representations of Echo's story and characters from Maya herself to her family and the villainous Kingpin. As such, it is the only song to be found in all five of Echo's episodes.
"Walkin' After Midnight" by Patsy Cline - This song plays in Echo episode 1 when Skully and Chula are driving away from the Lopez family house. Skully sings along to the lyrics before asking Chula if something is upsetting her.
"Crazy" by Doechii - After Maya's childhood is highlighted, Echo episode 1 switches to showcasing the titular character during the events of Hawkeye. This sequence begins with Maya having a sparring match against an opponent during which this song can be heard playing.
"Chitty Bang" by Leikeli47 - Echo episode 1 also shows how Maya became involved with Kingpin's criminal network. On Maya's first job, she enters a warehouse where she and other Fisk henchmen have been sent to dispose of some of Kingpin's enemies. As she enters the warehouse, "Chitty Bang" is playing.
"Pretty Waste" by BONES UK - Shortly after "Chitty Bang" plays, the song makes way for "Pretty Waste" as Maya begins battling the men in the warehouse. This song accompanies the action sequence before Daredevil appears and transitions the scene into an orchestral score.
"Centerfold" by J Geils Band - In Echo episode 1, Maya returns to her hometown in Oklahoma. Upon arriving there, Maya visits her uncle who owns a leisure center that includes a rollerskating rink. During Maya's first visit to this building, a roller disco is taking place where this song can be heard.
"Ain't Gonna Stop" by Natural Child - The nature of a roller disco means that many songs can be heard in the scene in Echo episode 1. As such, "Centerfold" makes way for "Ain't Gonna Stop" as Henry, Maya's uncle, caters to the children taking part in the disco.
"Wavy" by BigBreeze, Scootie Wop, and Jude Barclay - This song is the first to play in Echo episode 2. The song can be heard as Biscuits is pulling up to Maya's house in his truck after picking up some things for her in Skully's thrift store.
"All My Life" by K-Ci and JoJo - The scene after Biscuits' truck plays "Wavy" involves Chula and Henry talking at the latter's place of work. In the background, "All My Life" can be heard playing to the children on the roller rink.
"Watch Your Back" by Zeazy Z - Toward the end of Echo episode 2, Biscuits returns the truck to Chula. As he is driving past in a humorous scene, this song can be heard playing out of the truck.
"Dragula" by Rob Zombie - In Echo episode 3, Fisk's men attempt to capture Maya at Henry's rollerskating rink. Maya escapes and blasts this sound over the sound system in the building, with "Dragula" continuing to play as Maya fights back against her captives.
"New York Minute" by Don Henley - Despite fighting back, Maya, Henry, and Bonnie are captured in Echo episode 3. This leads Zane, Fisk's lead henchmen, to almost kill Henry and Bonnie. However, Zane stops when his phone starts ringing with "New York Minute" being his ringtone.
"When We Remain" by Samantha Crain - This song actually appears twice across Echo's five episodes. First, Echo episode 3 plays the song after Henry offers Maya his help in taking down Fisk. The second time the song plays is in Echo episode 5 after Fisk is routed from Oklahoma and montages of Maya's life are shown.
"Vba Isht Taloa #121" - Choctaw Hymn - This song is sung by the people of the Choctaw nation toward the end of Echo episode 3. Chula and Biscuits are shown in a church-like environment, singing this common Choctaw hymn as the episode details Maya returning home to find Kingpin alive.
"Sing To Me" by Kallie Jean - Echo episode 4 centers on the Choctaw Powwow that is held by the people every year being set up. As the Powwow is being shown, this song can be heard playing over the speakers.
"Down to the River to Pray" by Alison Krauss - One of Echo's most emotional scenes comes in episode 4 when Chula and Maya have a conversation about their family history. After this scene, both characters are shown reckoning with the moving talk as "Down to the River to Pray" is played.
"Untie The Ribbon" by Hank & Jane and Friends - In Echo episode 5, Maya can be seen eating in a diner. "Untie The Ribbon" is playing on the diner's radio and is the final song to appear in Echo before another rendition of "When We Remain."
Where To Listen To The Echo Soundtrack Echo's various tracks can be listened to on various music streaming platforms. Unlike other MCU soundtracks like those associated with the Guardians of the Galaxy films, the Echo soundtrack was not compiled specifically for the show. Instead, it is likely that each song was simply chosen individually based on which track fit each scene the best. As such, Echo's soundtrack can be found on most major streaming platforms such as Spotify or Apple Music given the variety of tracks in the most recent Marvel Disney+ show of Phase 5.
All episodes of Echo are now streaming on Disney+.
