10 Most Evil Quotes Spoken By MCU Villains

The Marvel Cinematic Universe deserves more credit for the sheer amount of edge it"s able to give its villains through words alone. Primarily a franchise of PG-13 movies featuring lighthearted tones, most MCU movies don"t get enough credit for being as dark as they are. Some of them sport some spine-chillingly cruel dialogue that emphasizes just how inhumane and vile they truly are.
The best villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe make a deep impression of evil primarily through their words as well as their actions. Some of the most cruel, callous, or downright sadistic lines in the series hint at just how vile these characters are, quickly making it clear to the audience that these antagonists aren"t here to play around. Whether they"re providing a threat, promise, malediction or curse, MCU villains know when to drop the pretense and go all-out with chilling dialogue.
10 “I Don’t Even Know Who You Are.” Thanos, Avengers: Endgame Few Marvel villains have made as many enemies across the universe has Thanos has, taking the lives of countless individuals from a myriad of species. He makes quite the powerful foe in Avengers: Infinity War when he revives the android Vision just to snatch the Infinity Stone powering his life out of his forehead, undoing the horrific sacrifice made by his lover Scarlet Witch. The powerful chaos magician finally gets her chance at revenge during the Battle of Earth in Avengers: Endgame, going up against a past version of Thanos.
Granted, this version of Thanos actually wouldn"t be able to know who Scarlet Witch is, as he had yet to encounter her.
Still heartbroken years later, Scarlet Witch screams at the Mad Titan that he took everything from her, only for him to coldly reply" "I don"t even know who you are." Josh Brolin"s ice-cold delivery here emphasizes just how little stock Thanos holds on the lives he"s taken, let alone the loved ones he"s left behind in their wake. Granted, this version of Thanos actually wouldn"t be able to know who Scarlet Witch is, as he had yet to encounter her, but the sentiment that he very well could have encountered her and forgotten speaks volumes as to his cruelty.
9 “It Broke My Heart To Put That Tumor In Her Head.” Ego, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 As far as MCU plot twist villains go, Ego might not be the most subtle example. An all-powerful Celestial and literal living planet, the being that fathered Peter Quill has a primal, ancient consciousness that mortal beings may find difficult to relate to, obsessed with the expansion of himself throughout all corners of the galaxy above all else. During a heart-to-heart with his son, Ego very nearly manages to convince him to join him in this cosmic pursuit, overwhelming Star-Lord"s mind with awesome galactic imagery of a changed universe.
However, Ego makes one callous mistake when he admits to killing Star-Lord"s mom, telling him "It broke my heart to put that tumor in her head." This admission is so evil that it manages to snap Star-Lord out of the spell, causing him to mutter "What?" before blasting his father to pieces with his guns. It almost makes Ego more evil to know that he was very much capable of loving someone, only to cruelly kill them so as not to impose on his own delusions of grandeur.
8 “I Will Kill You And Everybody You Love.” The Vulture, Spider-Man: Homecoming While some villains may take perverse joy in the suffering of others, to someone like Adrian Toomes, a.k.a. The Vulture, the supervillain business is just that - business. That being said, he doesn"t hesitate when it comes to protecting him and his, clearly valuing his profits and family above the well-being of anyone else. He makes as much known during the tense drive to the homecoming dance, in which he immediately susses out that the young boy dating his daughter, Peter Parker, is also his mortal enemy.
Shooing away his daughter to give Peter the "Dad talk", The Vulture makes it very clear to him that he will murder Peter and everyone he loves in cold blood in order to protect his secret enterprise.
Few villains have threatened to kill children as casually in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even if The Vulture does give Peter the professional courtesy of a warning as a thanks for saving his daughter, it"s clear that he"s willing to do whatever it takes to preserve his own lifestyle.
7 “Gods Don’t Have To Choose! We Take.” Green Goblin, Spider-Man: No Way Home Considering how great Spider-Man"s movie rogue"s gallery is, it"s no wonder that another Spidey villain gets away with one of the most fundamentally evil lines in the entire MCU. Spider-Man: No Way Home brought back Spider-Man"s original nemesis from the Sam Raimi movies, Willem Dafoe"s Green Goblin, an impressive performance that doesn"t miss a beat after almost two decades. During the tense stand-off at Happy"s apartment, the Green Goblin takes over Norman Osborn"s mind, taking the time to convince the other villains to rebel from their fate.
Green Goblin"s speech here is a perfect distillation of his chilling "might makes right" philosophy, asserting that the villains" strength makes them deserving of anything they want, least of all continuing to live rather than being sent home to their deaths. This unambiguously evil statement feeds in to both the Green Goblin"s sick worldview and his narcissistic delusions, comparing himself to a god. The literal opposite of Spider-Man"s famous "With great power comes great responsibility" ethos, this line is a chilling thesis statement.
6 “I Don’t Recall Killing Your Family. I Doubt I’ll Remember Killing You.” Ronan the Accuser, Guardians of the Galaxy The Guardians of the Galaxy villains are a consistent threat to the entire, well, galaxy, with each entry in the trilogy having their own insidious appeal. Ronan the Accuser might not be the most memorable villain of the three, but his sheer power and pure evil intentions are highlighted at multiple points throughout the first film. One standout beat is when Ronan is finally confronted by Drax, whose family he had ruthlessly slaughtered as part of his many conquests.
In fact, it says a lot that Thanos" "I don"t even know who you are" line is more or less a direct ripoff of this.
When Drax screams at him for vengeance, Ronan coldly informs him that he doesn"t even remember putting his family to the sword, and likely won"t remember Drax either after he"s done with him. This line cements the Kree zealot as one of the most deadly mass-murderers in MCU history, right up there with Thanos. In fact, it says a lot that Thanos" "I don"t even know who you are" line is more or less a direct ripoff of this.
5 “There Is No God! That’s Why I Stepped In!” The High Evolutionary, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 As evil as Ronan and Ego are, they"re given some fierce competition by the High Evolutionary of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This sociopathic, narcissistic mastermind is responsible for creating entire races of new life from scratch, including cybernetic animals like Rocket Raccoon. While Ego and Ronan might take life with wanton disregard, the High Evolutionary creates it just as callously, an act that arguably might be even crueler considering the circumstances of his subjects.
The megalomania of the High Evolutionary is best summed up during one scene in which he"s screaming at his staff, when one of them makes an allusion to God. The High Evolutionary is quick to retort that there is no "God" save for himself, emphasizing his down absurd sense of self-righteousness. The High Evolutionary"s creations may be impressive, but his utter lack of modesty or sympathy keeps him as one of the most vile MCU villains in recent history.
4 “You Will Bring Me What I Need. Or, I Will Kill Your Daughter In Front Of You.” Kang the Conqueror, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Though he was originally meant to be the next major overarching villain to unite the heroes of the MCU a la Thanos, Kang the Conqueror has seemingly been rolled back in importance in favor of Robert Downey Jr."s Doctor Doom. Even if the character didn"t exactly resonate with audiences, it"s a shame that his particular brand of villainy has been underrated. In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Kang demonstrates the sort of killer instinct that led to him becoming a feared tyrant across the multiverse.
At one point, to force Ant-Man to comply with his demands, Kang threatens to kill Scott Lang"s daughter Cassie. As if that wasn"t enough, he promises to use his advanced technology to kill her and revive her over and over again while forcing Scott to watch helplessly. One of the most terrifyingly elaborate threats in the history of superhero movies, it"s too bad Kang"s most chilling quote is stuck within an otherwise mediocre MCU entry.
3 “You Said You Wanted To Burn The World. Let Us Burn It Together.” Namor, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Few heroes have been taken to as dark a place over the course of their debut film in the MCU as Shuri is in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Losing her brother and mother in a short time span, Shuri grapples with a dangerous kind of grief that blackens her heart, causing her to meet up with her late villainous cousin, Erik Killmonger, in the astral realm. The mutant Namor proves to be a devious villain for Shuri to handle in this heightened mental state, attempting to sway her to his side as the freshly-minted ruler of a powerful nation.
Weaponizing the words Shuri told her mother in private, Namor reveals that he"s aware of the dark feelings that had been plaguing her since T"Challa"s death. He prompts her to join him in a war on the surface world, reshaping the nations of the planet to bow down to Vibranium. Even if Shuri ultimately relents, Namor"s insidious use of her own private thoughts against her is nothing short of prime psychological warfare in order to get what he wants.
2 "I'm Not The Samaritan... I'm Not The Priest, Or The Levite... I Am The Ill Intent..." Kingpin, Daredevil Custom image by Ross Tanenbaum The appearance of Kingpin in the MCU was the start of the franchise taking over the Netflix Defenders continuity, and for good reason. As such a memorably despicable villain, Vincent D"Onofrio"s Kingpin might not have traditional superpowers outside of being a physically imposing powerhouse and an influential magnate, but he"s easily one of the most intimidating in the MCU. He proves as much in the later seasons of Daredevil, admitting to himself who he truly is.
Kingpin sends much of Daredevil self-assured that he"s doing horrible things for the right reasons, claiming to have the best interests of Hell"s Kitchen at heart. However, he"s eventually able to relent that, in the classical biblical story of the Good Samaritan, he"s nothing but an ill-intended will desperate to force the world into submission. Throwing away any pretense of ethics or moral obligations, Kingpin only becomes that much more evil and more frightening.
1 “It Would've Been A Waste Of Parts!” Thanos, Avengers: Infinity War Thanos is simply too iconic of an evil presence not to get at least a couple of lines that give the rest of the MCU"s antagonists a run for their money. Having fully converted to the side of good and cast off the influence of her father in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, Nebula joins the fight against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Proud to finally stand up to the former source of her fear and need for validation, Thanos" reaction to Nebula"s betrayal is only one of mild annoyance.
When Nebula claims that Thanos should"ve killed her, he cruelly brushes off such an idea as a "Waste of parts", referring to the painful cybernetic modifications he inflicted on her as punishment. Knowing how much torment this process caused Nebula, it"s like a dagger in the heart to her father refer to her as nothing more than scrap metal. Even if it"s a brief aside, this line is quietly one of the most deviously evil bits of dialogue spoken by anyone in the MCU.
