DC's New Superman Show Sets Up Cyborg's DC Return With No Sign Of A DCU Reboot

The animated series My Adventures With Superman has set up the return of an iconic DC hero in a way that may surprise some viewers. The acclaimed show is currently in its second season and offers a fresh spin on The Man of Steel's adventures with an animation style closer to anime than some previous DC shows. So far, the show has introduced a slew of DC favorites, including Superman, Supergirl, Lex Luthor, and Brainiac. But other characters in the DC stable have so far been left out, including members of the Justice League.
With all the information shared so far on the character arcs in My Adventures With Superman. there is already some indication of what characters will be featured on the show. The program, like many other superhero properties, is embracing the concept of a multiverse so there is a lot of possibility about which figures will join the story. But when season 3 episode 2 aired, a key exchange between characters in the episode's opening moments subtly brought back the DC hero Cyborg in a way that sets him up for more appearances further down the lines.

My Adventures With Superman Season 2 Set Up The Universe's Cyborg
In the episode's cold opening, Superman bursts into a flaming apartment and rescues a resident before flying him to safety on a nearby street. The man rescued named himself as none other than Silas Stone, father of Victor Stone, aka Cyborg. That exchange in itself firmly places Cyborg in the show's universe, but the reveal doesn't stop there. Moments after Superman flies off, Livewire emerges from the shadows and appears to make some cryptic threats to Silas, giving some vital information about Victor's age that gives him some more context.
Livewire mentioned that Victor wasn't at home with his father and was, in her words, "about nine or ten" years old. Viewers are left to guess why Victor wasn't under his father's roof when Superman showed up, but the mention of his age puts him some years away from the events that led him to be reborn as Cyborg. It's worth noting that although My Adventures With Superman could still present a fully-realised Cyborg in the future, there is still no sign of him in the DCU though he could well appear in the recently-confirmed Teen Titans movie.
How My Adventures With Superman Could Still Feature Cyborg In The Series
Livewire sharing Victor's age bracket means that while he's not quite on his way to becoming Cyborg yet, his pivotal moment also might not be that far off. In the comic books, Victor Stone's years as a troubled teen lead directly to the accident that forced his father to intervene, in which case the youngest estimation for the character places him at either 13 or 14 years old for his hero story. If My Adventures With Superman continues to do well with audiences, the show can take its time and introduce him a couple of years from now.
Audiences who watched the show so far have also seen other universes, so this avenue could be viable, too. It's easy to picture Cyborg traveling from one multiverse to another. Time travel is another trusty story trope in superhero comics, so we could see Cyborg appearing earlier than expected in My Adventures With Superman, and there is nothing to rule out the possibility of other members of the Justice League appearing alongside him. The existence of the League Of Lois Lanes proves the existence of other multiverse characters, so this could pave the way for Cyborg's return.
Even if there isn't any sign of Cyborg just yet, My Adventures With Superman has already offered a tantalizing hint of a beloved DC character, and the recently-released trailer for episode 4 drops some intriguing plot developments, so viewers can already start piecing together the story threads in an attempt to figure out what is on the horizon next for Superman, Lois and Jimmy. The well-received show has already done interesting things with established characters, so it bodes well for showing audiences Cyborg in new and exciting ways.
