Specifically, using just his voice and physicality, Reynolds is able to get the desired results and perform. Director Shawn Levy is clearly in awe of this gift, and had Ryan chosen to rely on a stunt double for most of his scenes, his performance could have been lost, leading to a less refined finished project.

Interestingly, none of the actors who previously appeared as Ryan Reynolds stunt double in a Deadpool movie have returned to the role. In the first film, Justin Eaton worked as the mocap stunt double for Reynolds, while Will Erichson and Alex Kyshkovych shared the work as Reynolds' stunt double. In Deadpool 2, Leif Havdale, Tom McComas, and Jackson Spidell each worked as stunt doubles for Reynolds druing the project. Kyshkovych also returned for Deadpool & Wolverine, although he was hired as a fight coordinator rather than a stunt double.
