6 Unexpected Characters Who Should Appear In Rey’s New Star Wars Movie
Star Wars: New Jedi Order, an upcoming Star Wars movie featuring Daisy Ridley as Rey, could see the return of both expected and surprising Star Wars characters. A new film focused on Rey Skywalker set 15 years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker means that most of the sequel trilogy’s characters can return. That includes names who were part of all three Star Wars sequel films, such as Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), as well characters that later joined the story, like Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran), DJ (Benicio Del Toro) and Jannah (Naomi Ackie).
Most Star Wars sequel characters Rey interacted with between Star Wars:The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker could easily return within New Jedi Order's story. However, Rey’s Star Wars movie could also feature some surprising names and main characters that did not appear in the sequel trilogy. That would help with the perception that New Jedi Order is not Star Wars10, but rather something unique. Here are six unexpected Star Wars characters who should appear in Rey’s New Jedi Order movie.
6 Grogu

Grogu is 50 years old as of The Mandalorian season 1, which took place 9 years after the Battle of Yavin. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was set 34 ABY, meaning that Grogu is still quite young during the Star Wars sequels, only 75 years old, at least in Yoda’s species terms. That puts Grogu at 90 years old during the upcoming Rey Star Wars movie, meaning that a slightly older, taller version of The Mandalorian’s baby could appear in Star Wars: New Jedi Order. Star Wars has just scratched the potential of Grogu, a beloved character that could continue appearing in multiple stories spanning hundreds of years.
Grogu’s Star Wars story could be the opposite of Yoda’s. Instead of meeting a Jedi Master at the end of their life and then learning about their millenary past, audiences now could follow Grogu’s life from a youngling to a fully trained Jedi Mandalorian. What happens to Grogu after The Mandalorian ends, and where was Grogu is during the events of the sequel trilogy, are questions that Star Wars has yet to answer. Those two questions offer a lot of story possibilities for the saga, including, but not limited to, having Grogu appear in Rey’s new Star Wars movie.
5 Ahsoka Tano

Members of Ahsoka’s Star Wars species, Togruta, can live for almost a hundred years. Ahsoka would be around 70 years old during the events of the Star Wars sequels, and while Ahsoka’s voice is one of the Jedi voices heard by Rey in The Rise of Skywalker, Dave Filoni made sure to point out that she is not necessarily dead during the sequel trilogy. If Tano is still alive after The Rise of Skywalker, then an 85-year-old Ahsoka in Rey’s new Star Wars movie could work. Ahsoka could be the wise, distant Jedi Master that assists Rey in creating a new Jedi Order.
