The Defenders was the last Netflix-exclusive Marvel show before WandaVison sparked a new age of Disney Plus series. Short of drawing a line beneath the stories of the titular heroes, however, the team-up series was left on a frustrating cliffhanger, depicting the apparent deaths of Daredevil and Elektra, only to have the former reappear at the end beside a nun. Elektra's fate, meanwhile, was not so clear, but the surrounding circumstances of Murdock's reappearance at the show's climax certainly hint at something that follows Snyder's preferred story arc.
Zack Snyder revealed recently that he would only direct one MCU movie: an adaptation of Elektra Lives Again graphic novel. This cerebral comic penned by legendary Frank Miller follows Daredevil as he grapples with the possibility that a presumed dead Elektra is actually alive. Given the unanswered fate of Elektra in The Defenders and the presence of a nun in the final shots, it seems like The Defenders was perfectly teeing up the Elektra Lives Again plot, which means Snyder's MCU preference could tie up that loose thread nicely. Why Snyder's Daredevil Movie Is Unlikely To Happen

Additionally, it would muddy the return of Daredevil in his standalone series to have Snyder direct a movie within the same time frame. While Ms. Marvel made her cinematic debut soon after her solo series aired, it was far from a solo movie, while Elektra Lives Again is very much so. Daredevil's own tale will most likely be enshrined in the events of Daredevil: Born Again, while his cinematic appearances will continue in the context of other heroes.
