Keke Palmer Already Revealed Her Dream MCU Role & She"d Be Perfect For It

Summary
  • Keke Palmer has been a popular fan-cast for the MCU's Rogue for several years.
  • Keke Palmer has previously expressed interest in portraying Rogue in the MCU, and would be perfect for the role.
  • It's unclear when the MCU's X-Men reboot will release, but Rogue could appear in that project, or as a multiversal variant before Avengers: Secret Wars.
Recent rumors have hinted at acclaimed actor Keke Palmer assuming a role in the MCU, and she already revealed which iconic Marvel Comics hero she'd want to play two years ago. Known for leading and character roles in drama and comedy productions, Keke Palmer had her breakthrough role starring as Akeelah Anderson in 2006's Akeelah and the Bee. Since then, Palmer has progressed to more mature roles in projects such as Scream Queens, Berlin Station, Turnt Up with the Taylors, Hustlers, Lightyear and Jordan Peele's Nope, helping her to become one of the most exciting rising stars of her generation.
This gradual rise to stardom has led some to speculate that Keke Palmer could soon take on a role in a superhero franchise. Many lesser-known actors before her have become household names thanks to starring in the MCU, including the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Tom Holland, so Keke Palmer could see this treatment should she assume a role in the MCU. Recent rumors suggest that Marvel Studios has been in talks with Keke Palmer about becoming on a major hero in the MCU's future, and the actor has already revealed what her dream MCU role would be.

Keke Palmer Said She's "Ready" To Play Rogue In The MCU Close Back in 2022, one popular fan-cast placed Keke Palmer in the role of Rogue for the MCU's X-Men reboot. Palmer's sheer talent, commitment to her roles and magnetic charisma would make her a great fit for Marvel Studios' new version of Rogue, and Palmer herself has also expressed her interest in assuming this legendary role. During a 2022 interview with Comicbook.com, Keke Palmer was asked whether the popular fan-cast had led to talks with Marvel Studios, and though she denied being in conversation with Marvel Studios, she did claim that she is "ready for Rogue," perhaps supporting recent casting speculation.
That's confidential, sugar. No, I'm kidding. I don't know. I just know that the fans, the way that the fans have me booked, honey, online, I got to do a gig every week. So if we're adding Marvel to it, hey, let's do it. I'm ready for Rogue.
Why Keke Palmer Would Be Perfect To Play The MCU's Rogue Anna Paquin's version of Rogue in 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise never managed to capture the essence of what made this mutant villain-turned-hero such a thrilling character in Marvel Comics. Rogue is full of energy, fire and spirit, which Paquin failed to demonstrate properly, but Keke Palmer would do a fantastic job at checking these boxes. Palmer's charisma and zest for her profession would make the MCU's new Rogue much more comic-accurate, while also making her a more exciting character to see on-screen, avoiding her ever fading into the background. Nope director Jordan Peele agreed in a conversation with Comicbook.com.
Marvel cannot have her. She's ours. No, you're allowed to do what you need to do. They'd be lucky to have her. Let me tell you something, just as a Keke endorsement for whoever is trying to work with her. When I looked into working with her, I thought she was Emerald because she's so fun. I thought that that spark and that charisma, when I met her, it got flipped in my head because her ability to analyze script is one of the best I've ever met. I instantly found that out and I told you that when you came back and started talking to me about the script. So you have a very special actor. I feel like a lot of people might think that you're fun, but it's a different level. It's a different level going on here.
Fan artists ran amok imagining Keke Palmer as Rogue in the MCU, and even Palmer herself got involved, proving that she would be able to perfectly capture what makes Rogue such an exciting character. Keke Palmer shared a video of her in her Rogue Halloween costume back in 2022, which provided a glimpse of what the actor could look like if she is cast as the MCU's official Rogue. While there are clear physical differences between Keke Palmer and Marvel Comics' Rogue, she could perhaps deliver the most comic-accurate and badass version of Rogue that has been seen in live-action.
When The MCU Might Introduce Rogue & Other X-Men Characters It's possible that Rogue and her fellow X-Men members might not be seen in the MCU until Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot hits theaters. It's unclear exactly when this highly-anticipated project is expected to premiere, but the reboot is thought to be completely reinventing the X-Men team, marking a huge divergence from the version of the X-Men from 20th Century Fox's franchise. Since Marvel Studios is still searching for writers for the X-Men project in the MCU, it's likely viewers will need to wait until after Avengers: Secret Wars and the Multiverse Saga's conclusion to see the team in full effect.
Nevertheless, the magic of the multiverse means several X-Men members could appear before the MCU's official X-Men project releases. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, The Marvels and Deadpool & Wolverine have featured many mutant characters, so Keke Palmer could appear as Rogue in any number of upcoming, multiversal MCU projects. The Marvels debuted Lashana Lynch as Binary, a version of Captain Marvel from Marvel Comics who became more empowered after a stint with the X-Men in the wake of Rogue stealing her abilities, so revisiting The Marvels' new X-Men universe could open the door for Rogue's MCU debut.
Marvel's X-Men Not Yet Rated ActionSuperhero Marvel's X-Men is the tentative title for the future debut of the legendary Marvel mutant superhero team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
