Tom Welling's Superman & Laura Vandervoort's Supergirl Stop Brainiac's Invasion In New Smallville Sequel Art

New Smallville art shows Tom Welling"s Superman and Laura Vandervoort"s Supergirl fighting Brainiac. While the new DC Universe is getting ready to release James Gunn"s Superman movie in July, there is another possible project of the Man of Steel that has fans excited. Welling and Michael Rosenbaum have been trying to get a Smallville animated sequel series made for some time now, but it is not yet part of DC"s slate of projects, as the duo still needs to receive the green light from Warner Bros. Discovery. However, Smallville sequel fan art shows what kind of events it could feature.
On Instagram, @buffy2ville imagined what Tom Welling"s Superman and Laura Vandervoort"s Supergirl taking on James Marsters" Brainiac could look like in a Smallville sequel.
The art is live-action, not animated like Welling and Rosenbaum are planning for the DC show"s possible return. However, it gives a good idea of what Welling"s Superman could look like after he only briefly wore the suit in Smallville"s series finale. The heroes fight Brainiac"s alien ship as he invades Earth. If the animated Smallville sequel happens, the door is open for the continuation of one of DC"s best TV shows to see Brainiac return.
Should Brainiac Return If The Smallville Sequel Series Ever Happens? The DC Show Had Many Exciting Villains Brainiac is one of Superman"s biggest villains. As such, if Welling and Rosenbaum manage to get the Smallville animated sequel series to move forward, there absolutely should be room for the character to come back. In the world of the series, Brainiac was created by Clark Kent"s Kryptonian father, Jor-El, though it was corrupted by Zod. Then, upon arriving on Earth, Brainiac made Clark"s life difficult under his alias, Milton Fine, before being stopped by the hero and the Legion of Super-Heroes. After being taken to the future, he was reprogrammed as Brainiac 5.
