How 1 Batman: The Animated Series Episode Secretly Includes A Live-Action Batman Actor

Batman: The Animated Series featured a stellar cast, but one episode featured someone who had played Batman himself. Batman: The Animated Series is celebrated for its noir-inspired storytelling, complex characters, and stunning animation. The show is also known for incorporating clever nods to Batman’s rich history in DC television, comics, and pop culture. One such reference was to one of the most famous Batman actors ever.
Batman: TAS is known for its incredible voice talent, including the late Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman for years to come, and even invented the infamous two-voice technique for Bruce Wayne and Batman. The other major voice acting role was Mark Hamill’s Joker, who proved so quintessential that he too dominated animation and video games starring the Clown Prince of Crime. However, another vital Batman actor also appeared - one who had previously starred as the Dark Knight himself.
Adam West Appears In Batman: The Animated Series Close In "Beware the Gray Ghost," the 32nd episode of Batman: The Animated Series, Adam West lends his voice to the character Simon Trent, a washed-up actor who once played a crimefighter called the Gray Ghost. The Gray Ghost was a television character that young Bruce Wayne idolized, making him one of Bruce’s earliest inspirations for becoming Batman. The episode follows Trent as he struggles with being typecast and financially unstable, echoing West’s own struggles after his Batman fame in the 1960s.
