The trailer for Daredevil: Born Again confirms Kingpin"s new powerful position, but Marvel needs to explain how it happened. Marvel"s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series is a spiritual season 4 of the Netflix show. While it wasn"t clear if the original cast was returning, besides Charlie Cox and Vincent D"Onofrio, the first trailer confirms that everyone is coming back, including Deborah Ann Woll"s Karen Page, Elden Henson"s Foggy Nelson, and Jon Bernthal"s Punisher. However, not everything is the same as before.
The series takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, and it has been six years since the last season. Kingpin and Daredevil have appeared in the MCU in projects such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, and Echo. However, the trailer confirms that both characters are in different positions from when audiences last saw them. Matt Murdock has retired from his role as a vigilante and Wilson Fisk is now Mayor of New York City. It"s a significant jump for Kingpin especially from his last appearance, and Marvel needs to address how that happened.
Kingpin Is Already The Mayor Of New York In Daredevil: Born Again Close Things haven"t gone well for Fisk since he joined the MCU. He lost control of his criminal empire in Hawkeye after his partnership with Eleanor Bishop dissolved and Maya Lopez shot him in the eye. He tried to patch things up with Maya in Echo, but it didn"t go well between them, and Kingpin tried to kill her. In their final battle, Maya spared him and tried to relieve him of his childhood trauma. Afterward, Fisk was on an airplane and got the idea to run for Mayor of New York, teasing his next desperate grab for power.

Since he"s already elected mayor in Daredevil: Born Again, it means Marvel skipped his entire campaign, despite the many issues Fisk would have. Fisk has been arrested twice, and his crimes have made major headlines since he is a well-known figure in New York. He"s also bribed and blackmailed many law enforcement agencies, like the FBI, so there would ostensibly be plenty of hesitation from voters about electing him and protest from many in law enforcement.
Kingpin is a charismatic person to the public, and people have rallied behind his personal story of his rise to success. However, the con has been exposed, and it wouldn"t make sense for him to become mayor without significantly changing his reputation, especially if Daredevil: Born Again continues the Netflix series. Hopefully, Marvel will show some of his campaign, as Kingpin"s journey from criminal to public servant should be fascinating.
