Marvel Chose The Perfect Villain For Daredevil: Born Again To Make It The R-Rated MCU Show I"ve Been Waiting 6 Years For

The perfect villain to make Daredevil: Born Again a true R-rated show could finally provide me with the project I have waited six years for. Daredevil: Born Again"s first trailer was released in January 2025, finally showcasing what audiences can come to expect from the show. What was first a soft reboot is now a continuation of Netflix"s Daredevil, bringing back Charlie Cox, Vincent D"Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Jon Bernthal - to name only a few - from the original show.
However, Daredevil: Born Again"s cast includes new faces as well as familiar ones, with the most exciting coming in the form of the show"s new heroes and villains. One such hero is Daredevil: Born Again"s White Tiger, a vigilante who often aids Matt Murdock"s fight against crime in Marvel Comics, shown in brief glimpses in the trailer. Another character glimpsed in Daredevil: Born Again"s trailer lies on the opposite end of the superhero spectrum, with the villain proving to be a perfect choice to make a truly R-rated show I have waited a long time for.
The Daredevil: Born Again Trailer Introduces Marvel Comics Villain Muse Muse Is Finally Here The villain in question is Muse. Muse is shown at various points throughout the trailer, including the opening scene in which Daredevil is shown back in action. The Daredevil: Born Again trailer opens with the titular hero fighting a mysterious character in the tunnels beneath New York City. This same fight scene is showcased again towards the end of the trailer, with Matt using his billy clubs to close the distance between him and his adversary. This unknown enemy is actually Muse, a popular, more recent villain from Marvel Comics" vast rogues gallery.

Posts 1 Muse is also seen at other points throughout Daredevil: Born Again"s trailer in more calm circumstances. One scene shows Muse spray-painting a wall in New York with a mural depicting Wilson Fisk. This mural highlights Fisk"s dichotomy; on one hand, he is the seemingly benevolent mayor of New York, while on the other, he is the angry Kingpin of crime. The only other appearance of Muse in Daredevil: Born Again"s trailer comes midway through, with the character turning to face the camera, highlighting his white, bloodied mask and black beanie hat.
Why Muse Is One Of Daredevil's Most Terrifying Villains In The Comics Muse's Darker Elements Are Kept Hidden In Daredevil: Born Again's Trailer Custom Image by Megan Peters Although Muse"s appearance in the Daredevil: Born Again trailer seems to depict him as a regular criminal of New York City, his deeper elements from Marvel Comics make him one of the most disturbing and terrifying of Matt Murdock"s villains. For one, Muse"s comic book origins are steeped in mystery. Rather than having a defined, believable, even sympathetic backstory, Muse does not have a distinct motive or past, making him all the more frightening as a deranged criminal.
Moreover, Muse"s method of carrying out crimes makes him all the more disturbing and links to the mural he is spray-painting in Daredevil: Born Again. Muse"s distinct villain trait is that he sees himself as an artist, with his works ranging from regular street art - as seen in the trailer - to more brutal pieces. Muse conducts mass killings, often using the bodies, blood, and organs of his victims to depict massive "art" pieces. In one instance in Marvel Comics, Muse killed multiple Inhumans and arranged their bodies to show them carrying out regular household chores.
Muse Can Make Daredevil: Born Again The R-Rated MCU Show I've Waited For Disney+ Is Yet To Make An R-Rated Show, But Muse Can Provide Exactly This Thanks to Muse"s modus operandi, Daredevil: Born Again is sure to be a proper R-rated show, as was also supported by the violence shown in the trailer. It has been six years since Marvel announced that Disney+ would become the home of various TV shows, yet the studio has yet to have a fully R-rated project. Moon Knight edged close to this, but nothing has been produced with the same level of grit as the Netflix Defenders timeline, for example.
It is fitting then, that Daredevil: Born Again is not only bringing back the continuity of Netflix"s shows but also providing the first truly mature Disney+ MCU show. The glimpses of Muse in Daredevil: Born Again"s trailer hint that his comic book storyline will be adapted and that his artwork will spiral as the character"s mental stability does, likely ending up in the gruesome depictions of so-called art using dead bodies and their entrails. This element of Muse’s character, alongside Daredevil: Born Again"s other violent aspects, is fulfilling Disney+’s six-year promise to deliver varied Marvel TV shows.
