Andrew Garfield"s Long-Wanted Spider-Man Return Is Imagined In 2024 Sony Marvel Movie Art

Summary
  • Spider-Man has been speculated to be appearing in Madame Web, and Andrew Garfield's wall-crawler has been depicted in a fan-made character poster for the project.
  • Madame Web's timeline means that it's unlikely Andrew Garfield or Tom Holland will be appearing as Peter Parker's Spider-Man in the 2024 movie.
  • Madame Web may actually be a prequel to current Spider-Man franchises, taking place long before Peter Parker ever becomes the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
A realistic fan-made character poster imagines Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man returning in Sony's upcoming Madame Web. Taking place outside of Marvel Studios' MCU and set within Sony's Spider-Man Universe, Madame Web is set to introduce several new female superheroes to the franchise, including Dakota Johnson's Cassandra Webb, Sydney Sweeney's Julia Cornwall, Celeste O'Connor's Mattie Franklin and Isabela Merced's Anya Corazon. The project is set to change the landscape of the SSU forever, and has even been rumored to be debuting the SSU's official version of Spider-Man, but there is also the possibility for previous Peter Parker actors to reprise their roles.
While Sony's Spider-Man Universe has yet to reveal its own version of Peter Parker's Spider-Man, there have been several actors who've assumed the iconic role in previous live-action projects. Andrew Garfield portrayed Peter Parker in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man duology, and reprised the role in the MCU's Spider-Man: No Way Home, spurring calls for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to be developed. Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man has been imagined returning to the role in a fan-made character poster for Madame Web shared by AGT Design, though there are clear reasons why Garfield's Spider-Man won't be featured in the upcoming SSU movie.
Related Madame Web Theory Completely Changes Sony's Spider-Man Universe & Explains Why There's No Peter Parker With the release of the Madame Web trailer comes a slew of theories surrounding Peter Parker's whereabouts, with one being particularly convincing. Madame Web’s Timeline Means Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man Won’t Appear Close While there may be hopes for Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man to reprise his role in Madame Web, the timeline of the upcoming SSU project makes this impossible. According to Entertainment Weekly, Madame Web takes place in 2003, which sets the film within the time period of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy, rather than Garfield's adventures in 2012 and 2014. In Marvel Comics, Cassandra Webb is a precognitive mutant who plays an important role in connecting Spider-People across the multiverse, so it's possible that Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man could make an appearance in the 2024 project, but it's unlikely that Andrew Garfield will appear.
Sony's Spider-Man Universe has proven that it is running in conjunction with Marvel Studios' MCU, with Tom Hardy's Venom appearing in No Way Home, and Michael Keaton's Vulture showing up in Morbius. This could suggest that Tom Holland's Peter Parker is actually closer to being included as the SSU's Spider-Man than Maguire's or Garfield's, though Madame Web's 2003 setting also makes Holland an unlikely inclusion. In fact, Madame Web may be more of a prequel to any current Spider-Man franchise, with one theory suggesting that Tahar Rahim's villainous Ezekiel Sims is perhaps trying to stop Spider-Man from ever being born.
