The Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced countless Marvel characters to the big screen, but the franchise has also failed to give some the amount of screen time they deserve. The movies of the MCU form one of the most ambitious and successful shared universes in all pop culture. With stories and characters adapted from the pages of Marvel Comics with a fresh creative spin for its live-action format, the MCU has repeatedly captured the hearts and imaginations of global audiences since its creation, bringing many Marvel characters to life on the big screen.
With so many characters existing within the MCU’s movie timeline, not all are able to receive the attention they deserve. In many cases, the franchise has made use of beloved, iconic, or simply interesting figures from the comics, only to seemingly waste their potential or fail to appropriately establish their characters within the MCU. In many cases, the opportunity to do so appears to have passed entirely, while in others, there is still potential that the MCU will do them justice in the future. Peter Parker’s colleague at the Daily Bugle was introduced to the MCU in Spider-Man: Homecoming as one of the hero’s high school classmates, played by Angourie Rice. Rice’s comedic and dramatic abilities afforded the MCU the opportunity to make Brant an important supporting character, but sadly, she wasn’t given the attention she deserved. With the world now having forgotten Peter Parker, it’s unclear if Brant will ever get more screen time in the MCU.

Despite having made multiple MCU appearances, Okoye has never truly been afforded the attention she deserves. Played to perfection by Danai Gurira, Okoye is one of the MCU's most interesting and exciting female heroes, but her continued supporting role relegates her to considerably less screen time than she truly deserves. Whether Okoye's story will be explored in more depth remains to be seen, but the sad reality is that the MCU hasn't truly fulfilled her potential by limiting her screen time.
8 The Collector Was Barely More Than A Minor Player In The MCU Introduced In Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

After just a few appearances and some very limited screen time, the Collector sold Knowhere to the Guardians and has yet to resurface within the MCU, making his lack of meaningful appearances seem like a clear missed opportunity.

However, the MCU’s Zeus isn’t depicted as a particularly powerful figure and appears all too briefly within the movie. Love and Thunder’s post-credits scene all but confirms more screen time for Zeus, as he sends his son Hercules to get revenge on Thor for humiliating him.

Razor Fist’s MCU design, combined with his relatively obscure nature to those less well-versed in Marvel Comics lore, made him a perfect and exciting character within the franchise, but sadly, his role in Shang-Chi was minimal and his screen time severely limited.

Taweret’s appearance as a humanoid hippopotamus combined with her easily likable nature made her an excellent addition to Moon Knight’s cast, but she sadly wasn’t given anywhere the amount of screen time she sorely deserved.

Despite playing a key role in the story and being the movie’s most exciting character, Namor was used sparingly and deserved far more screen time in his first MCU appearance.

After acting as a secondary antagonist for most of the film, Quicksilver shockingly dies after choosing to help the heroes, drastically limiting his overall screen time within the MCU. As an exciting character in his own right and with the talent of Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the role, it’s clear that Quicksilver was owed much more MCU screen time.
1 Heimdall’s Power Level Didn’t Match His Screen Time Introduced In Thor (2011) Close First appearing in 2011’s Thor, Heimdall is one of Asgard’s most powerful and prominent figures. Despite being considered a secondary character, Heimdall’s role within the MCU was one of relative importance, owing mostly to his rather high level of power. However, he was barely used to any real effect, with his most significant role being played in Thor: Ragnarok only a short time before his in-universe death. Heimdall’s status as a powerful Asgardian figure implied a level of importance that simply wasn’t reflected by his overall screen time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
