MCU X-Men Show Reportedly In Development At Marvel Studios
Marvel Studios is reportedly developing a new
X-Men series for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadpool & Wolverine became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, showing Marvel the potential that the X-Men and mutants have for the MCU"s future movies and TV shows. It seems like the studio not only recognizes that potential, but it plans to move fast on it. Marvel Studios" X-Men movie has already found a writer, and casting rumors have started to emerge. Now, the MCU appears to be getting the X-Men not only in theaters, but also on the small screen.
According to The InSneider,
an X Academy series focused on young mutants is in the works at Marvel. The report claims that the project could even be released before the MCU"s upcoming X-Men reboot movie, though there is also the possibility that it will serve as a spinoff to the X-Men"s arrival film. In Marvel Comics, "New X-Men: Academy X" was a series that focused on young mutants who live and learn to control their powers at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. The MCU TV show seems to be going for that same story.
What The MCU X-Men Show Report Means Marvel Studios Knows The X-Men's Potential Close Marvel bringing the X-Men to TV is interesting. However, the story shared by the report makes a lot of sense for the franchise. After an overhaul of its TV division, Marvel is now trying to craft multi-season shows and developing more projects than they will actually make. X Academy would follow a young group of mutants at Xavier"s school. That could allow the series to last multiple seasons, with the mutants becoming adults by the end of it.
Famous X-Men characters like Wolverine and Charles Xavier could pop up for a few episodes along the way due to its setting.

Related Captain America: Brave New World Makes Hugh Jackman’s MCU Wolverine Future Less Likely For A Simple Reason Hugh Jackman"s Wolverine could return to the MCU, but his future in the franchise has been challenged by Captain America: Brave New World.
Posts 5 Interestingly, the reported X-Men series is similar to a Marvel Studios project that was just put on pause. One of the three series in development that were recently halted by Marvel was Strange Academy. It would have focused on Wong as he trained young sorcerers, witches, and more.
The X-Men series could be the reason why Strange Academy is no longer in development at Marvel. Since the X-Men will be a huge fixture in the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars, it makes sense to prioritize mutant-focused projects.

I hope the X Academy series ends up happening, as I think the concept leads itself well for what Marvel Studios should do with the X-Men.
The movies can be reserved for the main X-Men team, with world-ending stories and the usual superhero action in abundance. The X-Men TV series could then focus on character development first, making audiences care for the next generation of mutants and bringing in the main X-Men sparingly as teachers, which allows Marvel to show a new side of them. This way, the MCU could cover all of its bases with the
X-Men.
