The MCU Just Made Changed How You Look At WandaVision"s Ending 2 Years Later

WandaVision is still considered by many to be the best Disney+ series that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has released, and new comments from its creator have reframed the climactic showdown between Wanda Maximoff and Agatha Harkness. Everything known about Agatha All Along has positioned the upcoming series as a successor to WandaVision, and as that series' release grows closer, information about how they connect has begun to be shared. While Agatha will certainly feel distinct from WandaVision, there appear to be many elements that the two series share, and it will be interesting to see how they connect further.
Many are convinced that Scarlet Witch will be resurrected in the MCU, and if there is a place to do it, it would likely be in Agatha All Along. The two characters share a deep connection with witchcraft, and there is a power and fear that Agatha Harkness experiences from her run-ins with Wanda. While WandaVision ended with Agatha being trapped in Westview, that is clearly no longer the case in the upcoming Agatha series, and understanding how that works may be essential to the MCU. There is some hope of a Scarlet Witch appearance in the upcoming series.
WandaVision's Creator Made Agatha & Wanda's Rivalry In The Show's Finale Yet More Interesting The Series' Bombastic Finale Has Been Reframed From Comments By Jac Schaeffer Close New details surrounding the end of WandaVision have come out which reframe the culminating conflict between Agatha and Wanda in the series finale. Discussing the upcoming Agatha All Along, Jac Schaeffer, the creator of WandaVision, spoke with SFX Magazine (via The Direct), where she said: "What got me the most excited was right at the end [of WandaVision], when she finally faces off with Wanda." While there is certainly fear and antagonism from Agatha toward Wanda, the creator's comments help to illustrate the complexity of that relationship.

Wanda's Scarlet Witch is an important figure to Agatha, and their relationship is not simply antagonistic. Continuing along this path, Schaeffer said: "Does she want to destroy Wanda? Does she want to be best friends with Wanda? Does she want to braid Wanda’s hair? Does she want to kiss Wanda? Does she want to go on a rampage with Wanda? Yes to all, and that was fascinating to me." Understanding these complex feelings makes the series' finale seem a little different, and helps set up for Agatha All Along.
The WandaVision Reveal Further Complicates Agatha's Fate In The Disney+ Series Agatha's Ending In The Series Is Dark And Unsettling Close In WandaVision, Agatha's character was slowly revealed over the course of the series to be a great witch who admired Wanda's ability to use chaos magic. She wished to steal this power for herself. However, these comments show how much admiration there was tied to that. WandaVision culminated with a giant explosion of CGI effects as the two faced off in Westview, then concluded with Wanda trapping Agatha in the town. The series ended with Agatha stripped of her power, damned to live as Agnes.
Clearly, from the trailers for Agatha All Along, Agatha does not remain trapped in Westview. As one of the most powerful magicians in the MCU, Agatha's links to magic and other witches will surely allow her to regain her powers in the upcoming series. However, the details provided about Agatha's perception of Wanda complicate how she may respond to her situation. It is unclear if she is angry, if she is sad that Wanda is dead, or if she is still awash with respect for Wanda. Likely all three will be the case.
How The WandaVision Reveal May Affect Agatha All Along Wanda's Impact On Agatha Will Be Explored In The Upcoming Series Close Audiences want Scarlet Witch in Agatha All Along, although this is unlikely to occur. Still, the specter of Wanda Maximoff will clearly hang over the entire series. Understanding how Agatha looked at Wanda in WandaVision helps to explain her outlook in the beginning of the upcoming series. While some might expect Agatha to be filled with rage, it appears that her respect and adoration of Wanda and her powers will complicate how she sees things in the upcoming show.
Clearly, Agatha has seen how chaos magic can be harnessed and used by the Scarlet Witch. This is surely incredibly inspiring for Agatha and may lead her down a path toward trying to get that power for herself. While Wanda is dead in the MCU, her powers transcend the physical and must still exist in some capacity. In all likelihood, Agatha will be driven by a desire to get these powers for herself in the upcoming series.

WandaVision, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first TV show on Disney+, first aired in 2021. The series kicked off the MCU’s Phase 4 and brought back Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, and Paul Bettany as Vision. WandaVision strayed away from Marvel’s typical formula, this time formatting itself more like a classic sitcom as Wanda struggles to cope with the death of Vision.
