Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Confirmed A Villain Theory 4 Years Later

WARNING: This article includes SPOILERS from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.Thanks to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, a major Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse villain theory gets confirmed four years later. Miles Morales' adventures are finally continuing as the web-slinger returned to the big screen in this year's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. While old faces returned for the sequel, several new Spider-Man variants also made their debut in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as the series went further into the multiverse. However, one variant that appeared in the highly anticipated sequel ended up confirming a major villain theory from four years ago.
As originally shared by u/SketchesFromMidgard on Reddit, the theory focused on the coloring of Miles' spider-sense. When it's first shown in Into the Spider-Verse, the colors are green and purple, the same colors as the Prowler, before shifting to Spider-Man's typical red-and-blue color scheme. The original Reddit post posited the color change was indicative of Miles' original destiny being to become the Prowler, but changing after he was bitten to become Spider-Man.
Although the theory was initially met with derision on Reddit, it turned out to be correct, as evidenced by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's cliffhanger ending. The ending showed Miles being sent to Earth-42, where it's revealed an alternate universe version of himself became the Prowler.
