A Marvel director thinks Captain America is to blame for Thanos winning in
Avengers: Infinity War. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's most shocking moment was definitely Thanos' snap and several heroes turning to dust. The MCU heroes' biggest loss has been attributed to multiple characters, and now a Marvel director believes that the hero responsible for the biggest twist in Marvel's Avengers movies and the MCU as a whole is none other than Steve Rogers.
Speaking with Phase Zero, The Marvels director Nia DaCosta revealed that she believes Chris Evans' Captain America was the reason the Avengers lost to Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
According to DaCosta, Captain America's unwillingness to sacrifice anyone is what resulted in Avengers: Infinity War's dark ending. Referring to Vision and the Mind Stone, DaCosta said Captain America "should’ve just ripped that thing out of his homie’s head from the beginning." While The Marvels' director thinks Thanos winning against the Avengers was Captain America's fault, she says, "Even though I blame him, I understand him." Check out her full quote below:
"So, here’s the thing: the reason why it’s his fault is the reason why he’s such an amazing hero, because he’s like, ‘We’re not gonna sacrifice anyone. There always has to be another way.’ He was incorrect. But then also, he was right in the end, ’cause everything was fine. We did lose some people that we care about, but it is his fault, because he should’ve just ripped that thing out of his homie’s head from the beginning.
But then, again, that’s what makes him such a good character, and I think some of the amazing success of that first part of the MCU was those characters were so true to themselves, and they made sense. All of the decisions that they made, even if you didn’t agree with them, they made perfect sense to who they were. So, even though I blame him, I understand him."
