Tom Welling & Michael Rosenbaum"s Animated Smallville Sequel Comes To Life In Brilliant DC Show Art

The Smallville animated sequel series gets imagined through gorgeous DC art with Tom Welling"s Superman and Michael Rosenbaum"s Lex Luthor. More than a decade after its ending, one of the most popular live-action Superman TV shows is eying a potential comeback. After having played Clark Kent and Lex Luthor together, Welling and Rosenbaum are developing a Smallville animated sequel TV show in hopes of getting it greenlit by Warner Bros. Discovery.
While the Smallville series revival has yet to be properly commissioned by DC, many are still hoping for it to come to fruition. To see what it could look like, Kibar.Art made designs for Welling and Rosenbaum"s Smallville animated show through stunning fan art. Check it out below:
Kibar.Art also made another design with an alternative Smallville animation style, featuring Welling and Rosenbaum as Superman and Lex Luthor. The cover is an homage to Adventures of Superman #586 by artist Mike S. Miller, where Lex and Superman are shaking hands on stage. Clark is wearing the classic Superman suit, red trunks and all, while Lex sports a blue suit with a red tie.
What The Animated Smallville Sequel Art Means For The DC TV Show Close Seeing fan art still being made to this day for the hypothetical Smallville sequel TV show demonstrates that the beloved DC TV show still has a massive fanbase worldwide. With Smallville having become available through streaming and new home media Blu-ray releases, the Superman prequel is gaining a new audience every year. That"s how Smallville continues to gain more popularity, thus why many want to see it come back for a revival.
It is not just the audience who wants to see it happen, as several actors have also made it clear that they are on board to join Welling and Rosenbaum"s Smallville pitch. From Erica Durance (Lois Lane) to James Marsters (Brainiac), there are many more stories to be told in this particular version of the Superman mythology. Whether it is adapting the Smallville season 11 comic or taking inspiration from it, Welling and Rosenbaum"s show would also serve as a perfect fit for the Elseworlds banner at DC Studios.
Our Take On The Animated Smallville Sequel Artwork The artwork by Kibar.Art perfectly makes a solid case that if Smallville came back in animation, the potential would be endless. Without having to worry about the same concerns of a budget for a live-action approach, they would have more freedom in what they could do storywise with a Smallville sequel. Hopefully, Welling and Rosenbaum"s Smallville revival will come to fruition sooner rather than later.
