Agatha All Along EP Brad Winderbaum Breaks Down The MCU"s Witchy Future

Agatha All Along executive producer Brad Winderbaum opens up on seeing more Agatha Harkness in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the breakout characters in the MCU timeline was Kathryn Hahn's performance as the Marvel villainess. The great reception to Agatha led Marvel Television to bring the character back, but this time in her own spinoff series, Agatha All Along.
The Phase 5 TV show focuses on Agatha forming her own coven as she seeks to reclaim her power after the WandaVision ending. Agatha All Along will also be another opportunity for the MCU to explore the more supernatural corner of the franchise. While the trailers have teased various mysteries, the MCU will soon be getting all of their answers about Agatha All Along.

1 Screen Rant recently interviewed Winderbaum, who is Marvel Studios' Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, as well as an executive producer for Agatha All Along. Throughout the interview, Winderbaum teases where the fans will see Agatha after leading the Agatha All Along cast in the larger MCU, as she is becoming another Marvel Television character to continue getting another run after being introduced in WandaVision. Winderbaum also teases the larger canon for the MCU, including fan-favorite projects like Agents of SHIELD and more.
Executive Producer Brad Winderbaum On Agatha All Along & Kathryn Hahn's MCU Future Close Screen Rant: Brad, I love this show, let me tell you. I love the fact that it feels to me like Hocus Pocus meets The Wizard of Oz, with a sprinkle of comedy, a dash of horror, all wrapped in that MCU tortilla and a bit of a musical. Looking at your position with the Marvel animation division, do you envision seeing Agatha popping up in any future animated projects, like What If...?, or Marvel Zombies, and how do you see her interaction with other characters in the MCU?
Brad Winderbaum: When you have an icon like Kathryn Hahn [and what she] has brought to the screen with Agatha, you just want to see more of her. So yes, there will be more Agatha in the future [of] the MCU, yes. She is in an episode of What If...? season 3 - I shouldn't say more, but it's one of my favorite episodes ever done, and and it may involve the giant musical number, and she's just incredible, and we all want to see more of her.
How Marvel Television Is Paving The Way For New Characters "We're developing more than we make now, so we actually have a few different things brewing." Custom Image by Lewis Glazebrook There are a lot of new characters in this show that I instantly fell in love with. The MCU TV has done a lot to give characters solo projects after being entry points in previous iterations, like Agatha All Along and WandaVision and Ironheart and Black Panther 2. Is there any specific, already established characters being looked at in that same light?
Brad Winderbaum: We're developing more than we make now, so we actually have a few different things brewing that we might see through to at least a pilot script to see if we want to make it. But, yeah, there's a lot of opportunity out there, it's hard to choose favorites. I'm a fan, so I want to make struggles about freaking everything, but we're really being careful about what we choose to do next.
Considering how often Disney+ shows set up huge storylines in the MCU like Loki for Deadpool & Wolverine, The Falcon & The Winter Soldier [for] Captain America 4, how exciting or difficult is it for you to integrate these into the expanded MCU?
Brad Winderbaum: I think it's about audience obligation and there's a sense that you need to watch everything in order to watch anything. We're trying to break that spell. We want it to be more like the comics. Are you're an X-Men guy? Are you a Ghost Rider guy? Are you a Gwen Stacy guy? There's something for everybody, and you can go into the genres and tones that you want without feeling like you need to know every single thing about everything in order to enjoy.
It's interesting, you said Ghost Rider too....I'm just saying! Currently, there's a lot about what's coming for Phase 6, with The Multiverse Saga coming to an end. How much more is there still left to reveal, considering there's only three years left until [Avengers:] Secret Wars, which is likely going to close out that entire saga?
Brad Winderbaum: I think that's [what] Secret Wars is going to be an amazing culmination to the saga. I think it's going to make the journey feel like it was a worthwhile.
Is Agents Of SHIELD Canon To The MCU's Sacred Timeline? "It does feel like [Agents of SHIELD] fits into The Multiverse Saga in an incredible way." What do you what are the chances that Agents of SHIELD can be canon? Because it fits really well into the MCU
Brad Winderbaum: I think that Agents of SHIELD is a really great show and there was a long time where some of the best reveals in that show were during the Winter Soldier era where Hydra emerges and you're like, 'Oh my gosh!' I remember that feeling, even knowing what was happening, just being a fan, [going] 'It really is connected!' I think that there is, in a crazy way, like you said, it does feel like it fits into The Multiverse Saga in an incredible way. I want to go down this road with you, you know I do, but we're just gonna take a deep breath for a second. Just know that I love that cast, I love Clark Gregg and I love that show.
Who Is Earth-616's True Anchor Being If Not Wanda? > Custom Image by Severina Chu Last question I have for you, I saw Deadpool Wolverine, just like everybody and just asking you as a fan, who do you think the Anchor Being of Earth-616 is? In my theory, I think it's Wanda, but I'm just curious to hear, in your personal opinion, who you think that would be?
Brad Winderbaum: Man...who I think it would be? I think it would be Bruno, Kamala Khan's best friend from Ms. Marvel! [laughs]
