The Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming Vision series has a lot of explaining to do, with many lingering questions surrounding the newly-resurrected synthezoid to this day. Originally under the MCU's anticpated Disney+ slate under the title Vision Quest, the series was once thought to be in danger of cancelation, with foreboding rumors surrounding the show's relative lack of buzz. Luckily, a Vision series has been confirmed for 2026, headed by Picard executive producer Perry Matalas.
It's been five years since Marvel fans last got a glimpse of Paul Bettany's android hero, with Vision's lengthy MCU journey culminating in the creation of a new version of himself. Dubbed "White Vision", this re-creation of the soft-spoken synthetic Avenger was last seen flying out of the town of Westview, and hasn't been mentioned by subsequent MCU projects since. Of course, this means that the upcoming series will have a laundry list of long-overdue questions to answer.
10 How Close Is This Vision To The Original? The Ship of Theseus never got a definitive answer

Vision was last seen conversing with the other version of himself created by Scarlet Witch's powerful reality-warping magic, in which the two's physical battle evolved into a spirited philosophical debate. In it, Wanda's version of Vision brings up the Ship of Theseus, a thought experiment in which every piece of a ship is slowly replaced over time, resulting in the question -- Is it the same ship? This same query applies to the re-constructed Vision, who now bears the body and memories of his predecessor, but not the lived experience.
Even after receiving his old self's memories, it doesn't seem like White Vision has quite the same personality. Rather than race off to reunite with his beloved, he simply flies away, likely just as confused about his place in the world as expectant viewers were. Hopefully, Matalas' Vision series can offer some insight into this predicament, confirming or denying once and for all whether White Vision is indeed the same android MCU audiences grew to know and love.
9 How Does Vision Feel About Wanda's Death (If He Even Knows)? Vision's absence in Doctor Strange's sequel was particularly shocking

After Wanda Maximoff was confirmed to be the primary antagonist of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, some were expectant that Vision would appear in the film, confronting his past self's wife for her selfish and destructive actions. But not only was White Vision absent from Wanda's last MCU appearance, but her search for a new reality was focused entirely on her children, ignoring any hope of reconnecting with her husband. This could be explained by Vision's reluctance to participate in Westview once he knew of its true nature.
However, White Vision's thoughts on Wanda's subsequent sacrifice in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would go a long way in developing his character. Even if he has no emotional connection to Wanda on his own, he does have all of Vision's memories with her, which should make the event at least noteworthy. It's possible White Vision isn't even aware of Wanda's downfall, and finding out his reaction to it could be something the upcoming Vision series presents to audiences in real-time.
8 What Is Vision's Goal & Purpose Now? The resurrected robot has no clear direction

After being talked out of following through with his assigned mission to kill Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision, White Vision seemed to be at a loss for direction. Simply remarking "I Am Vision", he seems to abandon his stewardship under S.W.O.R.D., at the very least rebelling against his instilled programming. Other than this act of defiance, White Vision's new purpose remains a total mystery.
Thanks to his lack of an appearance or even a mention in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it can be assumed that Vision isn't interested in wallowing in the past of his predecessor, seemingly uninterested in his former wife and children. He also doesn't show up in any of the last potentially world-ending battles of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since WandaVision ended, suggesting he may not have the same heroic sense of altruism that guided the original model. Vision's goals, if he even has any, remain a tantalizing mystery that the new series must elaborate on.
7 Will Vision Join The New Avengers? Sam Wilson's new team could use a powerhouse player

While it's true that he hasn't shown up for any hero work since his last appearance in WandaVision, it's possible he may have been discreetly tackling his own front against villainy. In any case, White Vision is a prime candidate to fill out the roster of a new Avengers team.
It's been confirmed that Sam Wilson's Captain America will form a new Avengers iteration, drawing from the current pool of MCU heroes after the death and retirement of so many original Avengers. How interested Vision may be in joining such a team is up for debate, but it would be shocking if Captain America didn't at least try to make some sort of appeal. Vision's willingness to work with a team for the greater good would speak volumes about his new personality.
6 What Has Vision Been Doing For The Past Three Years? It's been a long while since WandaVision

WandaVision was the very first limited streaming series to be unveiled by the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2021, met with rave reviews. Along the MCU's in-universe timeline, however, WandaVision took place in 2023, the series having already desynced with the current real-world year some time ago. Since then, at the time of writing, Vision has been absent for a whopping 18 Marvel projects, not counting the hypothetical scenarios of What If...?.
The films and TV shows released since the conclusion of WandaVision account for three years, both in-universe and in the real world. In all that time, Vision's whereabouts and activities have been utterly unknown, with not even a throwaway line from another character offering a brief explanation of where he's been. It'll be fascinating to see whether Vision's new series takes place within that time, picking up right where WandaVision left off as a sort of prequel that fills in the blanks, or simply jump cuts to the modern day.
5 Is White Vision As Powerful As The Original? Infinity Stone or no, Vision remains a strong hero

Vision his always been one of the more powerful heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's lineup. During his three-movie tenure with the Avengers, Vision's displays of power have been nothing less than extraordinary, able to phase through solid matter, fly, utilize a vast reserve of processing power, and fire searing beams of energy. So far, White Vision seems to be capable of all the same tricks.
In his fight with the Vision construct formed from Scarlet Witch's magic, White Vision demonstrates all the abilities of the original, matching or even outdoing his counterpart's strength. However, it's important to note that neither version of Vision was in true possession of the Mind Stone, the artifact which brought the android to life in the first place. It's possible that this missing ingredient may be the reason behind White Vision's relative lack of a personality, possibly affecting his overall power output besides.
4 Has Vision Avoided The Custody Of S.W.O.R.D.? The S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off group might have trouble retrieving their weapon

White Vision was initially created as a simple weapon by S.W.O.R.D. A sort of spin-off of S.H.I.E.L.D., S.W.O.R.D. is an extra-governmental intelligence agency focusing on artificial intelligence, the acronym making up its name standing for Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division. Being the ones who awoke Vision in the first place, S.W.O.R.D. clearly only ever saw him as a tool, a means to an end rather than his own independent person.
Having fled from the duties imposed upon him by S.W.O.R.D., it's likely that Vision is now a wanted man. It's doubtful that S.W.O.R.D. has any technologies capable of keeping up with Vision, let alone restraining and recapturing him, meaning that his evasion couldn't be too difficult. But S.W.O.R.D. may be relentless in their pursuit of their lost property, and Vision's new series may explore his new relationship to the organization, if he has one beyond being a fugitive.
3 Did The Chaos Magic That Brought Vision To Life Have Any Side Effects? Vision wasn't able to be re-activated easily

Having kept Vision's corpse in storage since the events of Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, it was clear that S.W.O.R.D. had no easy way to power up their dormant creation. Considering that the original Vision was kept alive by the awesome cosmic power of an Infinity Stone, finding a source of power strong enough to replenish even a crude facsimile of him was no easy task. Luckily, it was a fragment of Wanda's own incredibly potent Chaos Magic that allowed S.W.O.R.D. to activate Vision and send him after her.
It would be surprising to learn that being reborn in this way didn't have any lasting effects on White Vision. As explained by Agatha Harkness in WandaVision and reiterated in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Scarlet Witch's Chaos Magic is incredibly unpredictable, possibly even playing a role in the corruption of Wanda herself. It could be that a similar inkling of magical corruption or some other unintended side effect now resides in Vision following his resurrection.
2 Did Mephisto Play A Part In The Events Of WandaVision? Comic inspiration may suggest infernal intervention

Mephisto is one of the most devious mastermind villains in Marvel Comics history that has yet to be implemented by the MCU. Essentially the Marvel mythology's version of the devil, Mephisto is behind the corruption of many beings in the Marvel Universe, including Norman Osborn and Ghost Rider. The original title for Vision's upcoming show, Vision Quest, may indicate that the demonic overlord could have a vector to be introduced into the MCU at last.
In the Vision Quest comic, White Vision is introduced, although via different circumstances. In the same story, Vision's children, Tommy and Billy Maximoff, are revealed to be constructs created by Master Pandemonium, a lesser-known villain that acts under Mephisto's will. Demonic influence could be a great way to retroactively explain the corruption of Scarlet Witch and possibly bring Tommy and Billy back into the main MCU timeline.
1 Will Vision Create His Own Family To Replace The One He Lost? Wanda, Tommy and Billy aren't Vision's only comic family

In the Marvel Comics, Vision actually becomes a family man more than once. In the comic book arc Visions of the Future, Vision attempts to gain a deeper understanding of humanity by building his own family. Creating an android nuclear family complete with a dog and a cat, Vision gains a new wife, Virginia, a daughter, Viv, and a son, Vin. This experiment at crafting a new family ends in tragedy, but Viv goes on to survive as a member of the All-New Marvel Champions, a team of young heroes.
An adaptation of Visions of the Future is one of the most popular fan-theories for Vision's show, and for good reason. Creating a family of his own would be the next logical step in White Vision's journey of self-discovery, possibly after reflecting on his memories of Wanda, Tommy, and Billy, and Viv could be a great addition to fill out the roster of the Young Avengers alongside Ms. Marvel and Kate Bishop. In any case, whether Vision longs for a family is one of the most outstanding questions in the wake of his last appearance.
