Sony’s Failures Prevent Blade’s Best Vampire Crossover From Happening
Marvel Studios'
Blade movie will not include a crossover with Marvel's two biggest vampires thanks to Sony's failures. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally bringing vampires into the franchise thanks to Mahershala Ali's interest in playing the daywalker. The supernatural beings have been teased in recent years, with one even having a cameo in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. However, there is an expectation that Blade will be where several other vampire characters from Marvel's vast comic library make appearances alongside Ali's Eric Brooks.
There are plenty of vampire characters from the comics that Blade could include as the supernatural corner of the MCU expands. Dracula and his daughter Lilith, possibly Mia Goth's character, are likely to appear in some form. The movie is also likely to include Hannibal King as one of Blade's allies, and Deacon Frost's appearance is also probable. Blade could even introduce Eric Brooks' daughter Bloodline, while Doctor Strange's vampire brother Viktor Strange could make an appearance. All these characters have had major roles to play with Blade in the comics, but the biggest crossover will not happen.
Morbius Appearing In Blade Would Bring Marvel’s Two Biggest Vampires Together
Lots of other Marvel vampires have large roles to play with Blade in the comics, but Morbius is the other biggest vampire in the source material. His origin makes him different from most other blood-thirsty characters, though. Dr. Michael Morbius developed his vampiric powers after trying to cure himself using a vampire bat. This is different from the usual transformation that takes place when someone drinks the blood of a vampire. That is why the villain is commonly known as Morbius the Living Vampire.
Morbius might be best known as a Spider-Man villain, but he and Blade have strong ties in the comics and have interacted countless times. This includes Blade and Morbius being teammates on the supernatural Avengers team known as Midnight Sons. Before their time working together, Blade and Morbius were opposed and fought as two of the prominent figures in the vampire community. Normally, the connection between the two characters would mean that Morbius appearing in Blade is something that could happen as Marvel Studios brings the crossover to the big screen.
Jared Leto’s Morbius Won’t Be In Blade After Sony’s Disastrous Movie
Sony's Morbius movie failing all but confirmed that Jared Leto's Morbius will not appear in Blade opposite Mahershala Ali. The film was a box office flop and critically panned as Sony attempted to expand its shared universe filled with Spider-Man villains. There was never any known plans to have Jared Leto's Morbius appear in Blade, but it is possible that Marvel Studios could have made a multiverse connection happen if Morbius was a hit. Instead, the film's poor response means that Jared Leto is unlikely to return as Morbius for any movie in the future, and
Blade will not recast the character to pull off the vampire crossover either.
