DC Actor Reveals The Leaked Lex Luthor Spoiler That Everyone Missed For Superman & Lois Season 4

WARNING: This article includes SPOILERS from Superman & Lois season 4, episode 8.It turns out that a major plot point for Superman & Lois season 4 was leaked ahead of episode 8 of the DC TV show"s final season. While Lex Luthor has been the main antagonist in the Superman & Lois season 4 story, he"s been relying heavily on Amanda McCoy, the one person he can trust. However, their relationship was a lot more crucial, with Superman & Lois season 4, episode 8, confirming that their bond is from more than just being partners, as Amanda and Lex confessed their love for each other.
ScreenRant chatted with Michael Cudlitz, who also directed this week"s episode, about the major moment between the characters. When Cudlitz was asked if he knew from the beginning that this was the direction for Lex and Amanda or if he found out when he got the script, he offered a very interesting story about this arc having already been heavily teased - but by accident. He said:
There"s kind of a hint of it, which is really interesting. Our PR department kind of slipped up a tiny bit, and no one really picked up on it. There"s a still photo that was released with me reaching out and touching Amanda"s face that we did in two takes, when she brings me to the hotel for the first time, to my new office across from the Smallville Gazette. [When] we started [filming], I said, "Oh my gosh, should we play this?" and we were like, "You know what? We"re not sure if we want to play it yet."
But I reached out and I touched [her] face when I say, "There"s a reason I trust only you" and that still was released, but if you see the edit of the scene, I never touch her in the scene that we actually did, because they wanted to save it for later. So when that photo came out, I was like, "Oh no!" and nobody said a word. So it"s absolutely underneath everything. There"s a tension there, and we don"t know what it is, but as it builds, as the season goes on, we realize what is potentially happening there. Yvonne Chapman is honestly, again, incredible to work with - lovely, smart, talented, [she] was so present. Coming into a show that"s already running 100 miles an hour, and to just jump right on, seamlessly, she"s incredibly talented. I"m really excited for what she does in the future and I cannot wait to work with her again because she was just a gem.
What Michael Cudlitz's Spoiler Comments Mean For Superman & Lois Close For the most part, Superman & Lois season 4"s Amanda and Lex story will, most likely, have been a surprise to most of the audience. Even if some viewers caught the images that went out early, it"s possible that no theories about Lex and Amanda being romantically involved sparked until they got to episode 8. In the large scheme of things, their feelings for one another makes a lot of sense, as Superman & Lois season 4 did give them a proper foundation when Amanda was first introduced.
From what Cudlitz said himself, this was a take that they ended up not using for that episode of Superman & Lois season 4. Why the photos were sent out remains unclear, though it seems to not have impacted the reception of the season, nor clued anyone in that Lex and Amanda"s relationship was more than it seemed at first. If anything, this gets to be a funny little blooper for Superman & Lois season 4, which happens every now and then for any TV show.
Our Take On Michael Cudlitz's Comments While it is funny to hear that the photo (as seen above) was not technically supposed to be released by The CW, not everyone keeps up with promotional releases, which hopefully left many viewers able to be surprised by the Lex and Amanda romance. Whether the Superman & Lois finale ends with Amanda and Lex still being able to be together in any capacity remains to be seen. But for now, Superman & Lois season 4"s main story is all about the final war between Lex and the Man of Steel.
The final two episodes of Superman & Lois season 4 will air on Monday, November 25, and December 2, respectively, at 8pm on The CW.
