Loki could return for season 3 in the future, but it would come with the risk of destroying the character"s perfect Marvel Cinematic Universe ending. Tom Hiddleston"s Loki continues to be the only live-action MCU TV show to have more than one season. That is one of the many things that make the series special, with Loki also being one of the best projects in the MCU as a whole, not just on Disney+. The show is also one of the biggest multiverse entries in the franchise.
Loki season 2 ended with the God of Mischief getting a major power boost, as Loki is now the protector of the multiverse. While fans wanted to see Loki season 3 happen, that ending made it seem that the character"s story in the franchise was done, while other players from the series could appear elsewhere. The latter has already started to happen, as Judge B-15 showed up in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, after a recent update, there might still be some hope for Loki season 3 to materialize.
Loki Season 3 Chances Aren't Completely Dead The MCU Series Got A Hopeful Tease Close Speaking to CinePOP at D23 Brazil, Marvel Studios" Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, talked about the chances of Loki season 3 happening. The executive did not dwell on the show for long, simply saying, "There’s always a chance."
The quote does not make it seem like there are any plans for Loki season 3 to happen at this time. However, it is interesting that the executive did not outright shut down the chances of the beloved series coming back, instead leaving the door open for Hiddleston"s Loki to return.
Loki's MCU Ending Was Too Perfect To Ruin With More Story Loki Season 3 Would Have To Undo The Character's Ending Close Loki ended perfectly. Sure, it was a bittersweet ending, as Loki has to live alone forever in order to save his friends and keep the multiverse safe. However, it was the most selfless move that an MCU character could make, and the fact that it came from someone who has a huge history as an arrogant villain is incredible. That is especially true since the Loki variant the show focuses on was pulled from when the character had just lost to the Avengers, so he was still firmly a villain.

4 Over two seasons, Tom Hiddleston"s Loki had enormous character development. While sad, Loki season 2"s ending was in tune with the character"s journey in the series, and if season 3 were to happen, that ending would have to be undone. There is no way that Loki season 3 could just keep the title character sitting on his throne and watching over the multiverse without interacting with his friends again. Loki"s new MCU role is a great ending to his story, being tragic for him but giving others hope, and Loki season 3 continuing the story would disrupt it.
