"A Massive Story In A Massive World": DCEU Star Teases Peacemaker Season 2"s Major Return In James Gunn"s DCU
Peacemaker season 2"s place in James Gunn"s DC Universe gets an exciting tease as John Cena"s TV show gets closer to returning. The DC Universe"s Chapter 1: "Gods and Monsters" slate is about to begin next month with the premiere of Creature Commandos, which will feature a handful of Peacemaker characters in the animated series. However, it won"t be long until they return to live-action, with one of the leading stars of the Max series teasing what fans can look forward to in the new season.
Screen Rant recently interviewed Steve Agee - who debuted in the DCEU franchise as John Economos through Gunn"s The Suicide Squad before continuing to have a bigger role in Peacemaker - for Creature Commandos, while also getting a new update on what is next for his character. Agee revealed that he is expected to wrap filming today, and discussed the upcoming future of the DCU and his character, stating the following:
Steve Agee: I don"t know what"s going on beyond Creature Commandos in season 2 of Peacemaker - I"m in Savannah, Georgia, right now shooting season 2. We"re almost done, I should be done on Monday, and that"s the end of the season. So beyond that, I don"t know what"s in store for Economos. There"s a lot I wish I could tell you, [laughs] but you"ll have to tune into the shows!
While not being able to share any specific plot details,
Agee teased that Peacemaker season 2 has a "more epic storyline" in store for viewers as it now takes place in the larger DC Universe. Agee also promised that there will be more characters involved in Peacemaker season 2, sharing the following:
Steve Agee: It"s definitely a more epic storyline. More characters are involved this time, and it"s a massive story in a massive world. I think anyone who likes season 1 is going to love season 2.
What Steve Agee's Comments Mean For Peacemaker Season 2 Close Since Peacemaker season 2 isn"t a reboot in the DC Universe,
it raises the question of how established characters who are coming over from the DCEU will be dealing with the new takes on players like Superman and the rest of the Justice League. Whatever the case, based on Agee"s tease for Peacemaker season 2, the Max show will definitely be raising the stakes after season 1 set the foundation for Christopher Smith"s new team. That is also one way that Creature Commandos will affect Peacemaker season 2, as Rick Flag Sr. is set to appear in the Max show.
Creature Commandos is set to premiere with the first two episodes on Thursday, December 5, followed by weekly releases on Max.
While the matter of how Peacemaker season 2 fits into the DC Universe timeline has been a major mystery, it"s clear
the show will help expand these characters" respective mythologies while paving the way for them to have more integral parts in Chapter 1: "Gods and Monsters" and beyond. Whether or not that means Peacemaker season 3 is on the table remains to be seen, as it will likely be determined by the show"s reception and performance on Max. However, if this grander story ends up being integral to the DCU"s overarching narrative, it certainly sounds possible.
Our Take On Steve Agee's Peacemaker Season 2 Comments
With the Peacemaker season 2 story having the chance to take place in a universe that is essentially starting from scratch,
it will be exciting to see what parts of the show Agee"s comments are specifically referencing, and how they help flesh out the DC Universe. Since Peacemaker season 2 comes out after Superman, time will tell if anything from the 2025 film will directly impact the new season. As
Peacemaker season 2 is officially set to premiere sometime in August 2025, there will hopefully be more news rolling out for the Max drama sooner rather than later.
