Agatha All Along episode 9 ended the show without the Scarlet Witch"s return being part of the proceedings, leading many to wonder why this was the case. By the time of Agatha All Along episode 9"s ending, the show was wrapped up fairly neatly with only a few loose threads teasing future MCU stories. While it remains to be seen where these stories will appear regarding upcoming MCU movies or TV shows, Agatha All Along was not afraid to set up characters for more appearances in the sprawling universe Marvel Studios has created.
Although the show left some characters alive, the burning question coming out of Agatha All Along"s ending surrounds the Scarlet Witch. The Scarlet Witch"s MCU death came in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, though many did not buy the film"s depiction of her demise. Theories were crafted that Wanda still lived, or that elements from other MCU projects will result in her revival. One such theorized element was the MCU"s Witches" Road featured in Agatha All Along, yet the show ended without the return of Wanda Maximoff.
Why Marvel Fans Expected Scarlet Witch To Appear In Agatha All Along Agatha All Along Has Strong Ties To Wanda's MCU History Close Before exploring why Wanda was not part of Agatha All Along, it is first worth exploring why the show was theorized to contain her return in the first place. The most obvious reason for this is the strong connections Agatha All Along has to WandaVision. After all, the titular witch of the former was introduced in the latter, and the trailers contained several hints that Wanda"s legacy would be a big part of the show"s story. As Agatha All Along progressed, the connections to Wanda were only strengthened after WandaVision"s ending.

From the reveal that Joe Locke was playing Billy Maximoff in Agatha All Along to the themes of death, life, and resurrection, the theories began circulating that Wanda"s revival was on the cards. With Wanda"s son seeking an ultimate form of power at the end of The Witches" Road, these themes established, and the connections to the Scarlet Witch sprinkled throughout, audiences naturally jumped to the idea that Wanda would be revived in Agatha All Along, leaving her off for future MCU stories once more.
Scarlet Witch Didn't Appear In Agatha All Along Because The Story Was About Agatha And Billy Wanda Held No Sway Over Billy & Agatha Any Longer

All of that being said, Agatha All Along did not feature the return of the Scarlet Witch. The reason for this is simple: the show was about Agatha and Billy. Despite many hoping that the ties Wanda had to these two characters would lead to her revival, the show quickly made it clear that Agatha and Billy had different motivations in mind. Agatha was simply trying to regain the powers Wanda stole from her and had no desire to bring the Scarlet Witch back after she died.
Agatha"s other storylines involved her relationship with Rio Vidal"s MCU Lady Death and the reveals surrounding her son, Nicholas Scratch - both devoid of Wanda"s influence.
Where Billy was concerned, he was only interested in finding his brother Tommy. Throughout the series, Billy makes his somewhat contempt for Wanda clear, instead insisting that his goal at the end of The Witches" Road is to discover where Tommy was. Eventually, Billy aids the lost soul of his brother to find a body in which it can reincarnate, teasing the duo for a future in the MCU that is equally free of Wanda"s control. By the time of Agatha All Along"s ending, Billy accepted Agatha as his spectral guide, proving the show is about them and not Wanda.
The Scarlet Witch Can Still Return In The MCU Agatha All Along Was Not The Only Way Wanda Could Return

Interestingly, the MCU has not been overtly clear about whether Wanda is actually dead or not. There have been a few references that she is, yet Agatha All Along episode 7"s opening seemed to imply the answer is less certain. Billy asks Agatha if Wanda is truly dead, to which she replies "Yes. No. Maybe."
There are many reasons the MCU could bring back Wanda Maximoff and many ways the franchise could do so...
Then there is the matter of Billy and Tommy being alive once more in the MCU. It would be a shame for Wanda"s children to have been reincarnated only for her to die before getting a chance to reunite with them, especially given this was the goal that put her on the path to her demise. Therefore, there are many reasons the MCU could bring back Wanda Maximoff and many ways the franchise could do so. However, The Witches" Road in Agatha All Along proved not to be one of them.
