Why Agatha All Along Doesn"t Have Post-Credits Scenes Explained By Showrunner
Audiences were surprised when the finale of
Agatha All Along dropped, and there were no teases hiding in the credits. The series ended with Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) and Billy Maximoff/Wiccan (Joe Locke) setting out to find Billy"s twin, Tommy. Where the characters will crop up next is unknown, but
it is likely that Billy"s story will continue in Vision Quest. As such, it is strange that there is no clearer hint about the next Marvel Cinematic Universe project, whether or not it stars Wiccan. However, showrunner Jac Schaeffer revealed the decision not to have a post-credit scene came from the top.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she explained that she "wrote a number of post-credit scenes," which she has "done on every Marvel project [she"s] ever worked on." Schaeffer then explained that the post-credit scene is "the thing that changes the most and goes the longest as a question mark until you"re finally confronted with it." When the time came to film, Schaeffer said: "
Ultimately, it was a Marvel decision not to have a tag on this show."
What Jac Schaeffer's Agatha All Along Post Credit Comments Mean Close While a post-credit scene for Agatha All Along would have made sense, the MCU is in a transitional state at the moment. Yes, Vision Quest is happening, and that might be the next place Billy will show up. However, the next step for the magical faction of the MCU is undecided. Not showing where Billy goes next could be an intentional choice to allow the franchise"s producers leeway on where he will be featured.
Regardless,
the MCU took a hard left in the summer of 2024, when it was announced that Kang would not be returning, and the next crossover movie will be Avengers: Doomsday. That film will bring back Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom, after previously starring in the MCU as Iron Man/Tony Stark. It"s possible that the powers that be wanted to hold off on teasing the franchise"s next phase until it was set in stone.
Our Take on Jac Schaeffer's Agatha All Along Post Credit Comments
Alternatively, the next few MCU projects have nothing to do with Billy, so there may be nothing to tease. Wiccan may not have filmed any further scenes for the MCU at this time. Moreover, neither Captain America: Brave New World or The Fantastic Four: First Steps are likely to feature Billy or Agatha, despite the latter servingf as the Richards" nanny in the comics. The reason the MCU may not have included a teaser after
Agatha All Along could be as simple as not having anything connected to the series to advertise.
