The MCU Has Made 1 Phase 4 Movie"s Post-Credits Scene Worse For The 4th Time In 3 Years

Marvel Studios has just made the post-credits scene of Eternals even more confusing by delaying the upcoming Blade reboot yet again, removing it completely from the release schedule of the MCU. The production of Marvel Studios" Blade movie, which is set to star Mahershala Ali as the titular Daywalker, has been very tumultuous. Several directors and writers have been attached to Blade, and the movie"s release date has been pushed back a number of times, with the most recent update leaving future of the project even more uncertain.
In October 2024, Deadline reported that Blade has been completely removed from Marvel Studios" upcoming slate, stripped of its November 7, 2025, release date. Despite this, Mahershala Ali is said to be pleased with the current direction of Blade, and horror icon Mia Goth is still connected to the project, expected to bring Marvel Comics" Lilith into live-action for the first time ever. While the slowed-down production of Blade may ultimately be a good sign for the movie, it makes Eternals" post-credits scene even more confusing and awkward.
Blade's Continual MCU Movie Delays Make Eternals' Post-Credits Scene More Awkward Blade Made His MCU Debut In Eternals Close The fact that Blade has now been indefinitely delayed means that it will be even longer, an unknown amount of time, before Mahershala Ali returns to the MCU to explain his official debut in Eternals" post-credits scene. Blade made a voice cameo pondering whether Kit Harington"s Dane Whitman was ready to wield the Ebony Blade, a mysterious weapon that had been passed down through his family for generations. Dane Whitman and Blade"s connection was initially expected to be explored in the Blade reboot, but this is very uncertain now.

Since 2021"s Eternals was released, Blade has been delayed four times, pushed back from its original November 3, 2023, release date to September 6, 2024, then to February 14, 2025, and then to November 7, 2025, before being removed from the schedule completely. Each time, Eternals" post-credits scene has become more and more awkward, as viewers have been waiting patiently for Blade and Dane Whitman"s bond to be explained. After these recent updates, it"s even more unclear when Blade, Dane Whitman and the Ebony Blade will be seen again.
Blade's Most Recent Delay Sets A Worrying Note For Its Release Blade No Longer Has A Release Date While Blade has already been delayed several times, its most recent push-back could make audiences even more worried about the future of the much-anticipated MCU reboot. Blade no longer has a scheduled release date. Prior to the most recent update, Blade was set to be released as part of the MCU"s Phase 6 in November 2025, joining Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in what promised to be a fantastic year for Marvel Studios.

This release date meant that the wait between Eternals and Blade would have been slightly more bearable, but now it seems this will be even more extended. It"s less clear than ever when the mystery of Dane Whitman"s family history, his possible evolution into the Black Knight and an explanation regarding the Ebony Blade will be featured in the MCU. Blade presented the perfect opportunity for this to happen, given Mahershala Ali"s debut in Eternals" post-credits scene, but there seems to be nothing but confusion now.
Why MCU's Blade Movie Needs To Release Sooner Rather Than Later Deadpool & Wolverine Made Blade's MCU Movie Even More Important The longer Marvel Studios leaves before releasing Blade, the more awkward Eternals" post-credits scene becomes. Dane Whitman runs the risk of being completely forgotten in the MCU, with no sign of him yet returning after his Eternals debut. Beyond this, Wesley Snipes" Blade recently joked about there being "only one Blade" in 2024"s Deadpool & Wolverine, and this joke looks more and more like reality the longer it takes for the Blade reboot to materialize. Snipes" Daywalker needs to be proven wrong, so it would be great for Mahershala Ali to appear sooner rather than later.
