The First Spider-Man Noir Set Photos Have Convinced Me That It’s The Sony Spider-Man Universe’s Perfect Replacement

The first set photos from Spider-Noir are out, and after getting a good look at the next live-action Spider-Man, I"m convinced that the series could serve as the perfect replacement for Sony"s Spider-Man Universe. While Tom Holland"s Peter Parker has been thriving in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the state of the SSU is quite different. I"m a fan of Sony"s Venom movies, which are all fun and feature exciting action and heartfelt character dynamics between Tom Hardy"s Eddie Brock and Venom. However, the movies in Sony"s Spider-Man Universe without Venom have not been anywhere near good.
Morbius and Madame Web bombed at the box office for good reason. Not only do they focus on characters who are not big or interesting enough to lead their own films, but the projects had several issues, ranging from story to CGI to characters and more. Since Venom: The Last Dance ends with a major event that makes it pretty clear that Tom Hardy"s Venom franchise is over, the SSU is in emergency mode. However, with Spider-Noir"s talented cast and the first look at Nicolas Cage as the live-action Marvel hero emerging, I think Sony already has the SSU"s replacement.

I"m happy to see that the team behind the Prime Video series is making Cage"s superhero suit so accurate to the comics and the Spider-Verse movies. Just like in both universes, the live-action Spider-Man Noir suit features some trademark elements that the character has become known for, such as a fedora, goggles, and trench coat. Spider-Noir will see Cage once again don all-black as his version of Spider-Man, but this time in live-action.

I"m excited about Nicolas Cage"s live-action Spider-Man Noir, with his costume and the old cars establishing the fresh tone of this world when compared to the Spider-Man movies.
The Spider-Noir Set Photos Have Eased My Concerns The "Spider-Man" Of It All Will Be Treated Faithfully Close Sony"s Spider-Man Universe might be called that, but the franchise has never had any version of Spider-Man in it. The closest the SSU has come to Spider-Man was in Madame Web, where Emma Roberts" Mary Parker was pregnant with baby Peter, who is destined to become Spider-Man. Because of that, I have to say that I was worried about how Sony would handle a live-action Spider-Man Noir adaptation. After all, the series is called Spider-Noir, and it has already been confirmed that Cage"s version of the character will not be an alternate Peter Parker like he is meant to be.
While I was initially thrown off by the change to Spider-Man Noir"s identity, I still believe that the show can work just fine without Cage playing Peter Parker.
I feared that Cage"s hero persona would only be loosely based on Spider-Man Noir. However, the first look at the hero in Spider-Noir clearly shows that Sony intends to make the series as comic book-accurate as possible when it comes to the hero side of Cage"s character and the show"s action. While I was initially thrown off by the change to Spider-Man Noir"s identity, I still believe that the show can work just fine without Cage playing Peter Parker. In fact, that should allow more creative freedom for the series, with no confusion due to the cinematic Spider-Men.

Spider-Noir seems to be handling the Spider-Man action of the series just like it is in the Spider-Man movies. I have always wondered if a live-action Spider-Man show could work due to the high budget it would need to properly bring the hero to life, web-swinging and all. That budget issue especially became one of my biggest concerns for the show when a report from Puck claimed in August that Spider-Verse franchise and Spider-Noir producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller clashed with Sony over the budget of the Nicolas Cage series. Thankfully, the Spider-Noir set video shows signature Spider-Man action.

Despite it being the most successful franchise in Sony"s Spider-Man Universe, Venom: The Last Dance had the lowest opening of Tom Hardy"s Venom movies. With the Venom franchise now over, Madame Web and Morbius failing to kickstart franchises, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson"s Kraven the Hunter likely to be impacted by the SSU"s overall negative state, I think it"s time for the SSU to end.
Kraven the Hunter is the only announced upcoming movie on the SSU"s slate.
Sure, Venom: The Last Dance teased the major Marvel Comics villain Knull for future projects. However, the villain could come to clash with the heroes from Sony"s planned Spider-Man TV shows instead of the SSU"s characters. Spider-Noir is the first of many Spider-Man-related shows that Sony hopes to bring to Prime Video. Originally, Silk: Spider-Society was greenlit before the Spider-Man Noir series, but the show was later scrapped. Still, there are many exciting Spider-Man variants that could lead live-action series on Prime Video, and I"m more interested in shows like Spider-Noir than new Spider-Man villain movies in the SSU.
I Think Nicolas Cage Is The Perfect Choice For Spider-Man Noir The Actor Has Spider-Verse Experience And Fits The Show's Description Close Well, there is an obvious factor that makes Nicolas Cage"s casting as the live-action Spider-Man Noir good. The actor gave life to the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and will do it again for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. I"m a big fan of what Cage did with the role in the animated films, with the actor having based his Spider-Man Noir accent on actors from the films of Humphrey Bogart, the biggest name in noir movie history.
Besides having delivered a great performance as Spider-Man Noir in animated form, Cage fits perfectly with the direction Spider-Noir follows. The series will present its lead character as an aging private investigator in 1930s New York, with Spider-Man Noir facing corruption, moral dilemmas, and monsters — as revealed by Cage. I believe the actor has many roles that show he will be able to turn in a compelling performance. Cage, as a grizzled veteran hero who is disillusioned, with the actor flexing his film noir knowledge as the P.I. side of the character, can make Spider-Noir very exciting.
