Tom Holland has shared an exciting update about his future as Spider-Man, and I"m now convinced that my Peter Parker dreams for the Marvel Cinematic Universe could come true. All three live-action versions of Spider-Man have been great. I grew up with Tobey Maguire"s Peter Parker, saw Andrew Garfield be the most comic book-accurate as Spider-Man, and now have loved every MCU appearance of Holland"s Spider-Man. After 2021"s Spider-Man: No Way Home brought all three together, I"m interested to see how Marvel and Sony make Holland"s Spider-Man 4 just as exciting.
While story details have yet to be revealed, the anticipated MCU movie has been shaping up nicely. Spider-Man 4 will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings fame, with production set to start in the summer of 2025. Recently, Holland revealed that he has read Spider-Man 4"s script alongside MJ actress Zendaya, and the stars liked what they saw. Holland"s first MCU trilogy started with Peter in high school and ended with him graduating. I want to see Spider-Man 4 to the MCU"s Spider-Man 6 follow the hero in college, meeting characters like Gwen Stacy, Black Cat, Harry Osborn, and more. Then, Holland"s final Spider-Man trilogy could follow Peter Parker"s adult life, with the character married and starting a family in the vein of the new Ultimate Spider-Man comics. This way, we could get to watch Peter mature in the way that Marvel Comics often avoids while Miles is in high school with a classic Spider-Man setup.
