I Rewatched Avengers: Infinity War & There’s 1 Missing Story I Want Marvel To Show Us

There"s one major missing story from Avengers: Infinity War that I would love see adapted into live-action for the MCU. The Russo brothers" Avengers: Infinity War marked the culmination of a decade of adventures in the MCU, bringing together most of Marvel Studios" live-action heroes in battle against the Mad Titan, Thanos, who sought to bring balance to the universe by wiping out half of all life. Infinity War is one of my favorite MCU installments, and one of the most successful movies of all time, but there"s one huge story missing from the epic crossover event.
Since Avengers: Infinity War was so crammed full of side-stories and separated narratives, there wasn"t a great deal of time for some of the movie"s smaller plots to be explored properly. I loved Infinity War"s divided storyline, with heroes fighting Thanos and his forces in New York, Titan, Wakanda, Nidavellir and Knowhere, though the Mad Titan ultimately succeeded in his mission. With so many stories going on simultaneously, some got forgotten about and lost in the mix, including one I would have absolutely loved to have seen in Avengers: Infinity War.
Marvel Skipped Over The Red Skull’s Story On Vormir The Red Skull Protected The Soul Stone In Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame After a seven-year absence from the MCU following his debut in 2011"s Captain America: The First Avenger, the Red Skull returned in Avengers: Infinity War. Johann Schmidt first opposed Steve Rogers in his first MCU project, and was mysteriously teleported into space towards the end of the movie when he held the Tesseract in his bare hand. The Red Skull"s whereabouts puzzled me and many others for several years, but Infinity War revealed he"d been sent to Vormir to guide others to the Soul Stone, including Thanos and Gamora, and later Black Widow and Hawkeye.
Related Why Marvel's Red Skull Could Never Get The Soul Stone The comics could explain why Red Skull was sent to guard the Soul Stone (and the real reason why he could never have it) in the Avengers movies.
Hugo Weaving played the Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avenger, but didn"t return for Avengers: Infinity War. Instead, The Walking Dead star Ross Marquand portrayed the Red Skull in Infinity War and Endgame, and I think Marvel Studios missed an opportunity when casting this exciting actor in the role, as the Red Skull"s missing story could have been explored in much more detail. I would have loved to have seen some of the gaps between The First Avenger and Infinity War filled in, explaining exactly how and why the Red Skull ended up where he did.
Ross Marquand Deserves A More Substantial Live-Action MCU Role Ross Marquand Has Played Several Different Marvel Characters Close The Red Skull was Ross Marquand"s first Marvel role, and currently his only live-action role, but the actor has since gone on to voice several other iconic Marvel characters. In the last six years, Marquand has voiced several characters in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, What If...? and X-Men "97, but I would love to see him get a more substantial live-action role. It would make sense to me for Marquand to get the opportunity to develop his Red Skull, perhaps by filling in the gaps between Captain America: The First Avenger and Avengers: Infinity War.

Ross Marquand"s voice has been put to good use by Marvel Studios, but he is an incredible actor on-camera, too. His role of Aaron in The Walking Dead stands out to me, and has proven that he can deliver the emotion, intensity and drama that would be required for a role in the MCU, though Aaron is wildly different from the Red Skull. Marquand"s theatricality makes him perfect to continue playing the Red Skull, which means this huge missing story from Avengers: Infinity War could finally be brought into live-action.
Why Exploring The Red Skull’s Missing Story Would Be Great For The MCU The Red Skull's Story Could Fill In Major Gaps In The MCU The Red Skull"s reappearance in Avengers: Infinity War was a huge shock to me and many others, as it seemed as though the iconic Marvel villain would never return to the MCU following his mysterious ending in Phase 1. While it was great to see him come back into action, his seven-year absence was brushed away with just one short line, but this isn"t enough for me. I would love for this huge missing story to be explored further, detailing exactly what happened when the Red Skull disappeared in The First Avenger, and explaining his connection to the Soul Stone.
Related Why The Soul Stone Is The Only Infinity Stone Without A Phase 4 Replacement Every Infinity Stone has been replaced in the MCU"s Phase 4 with the powers of some characters, except for the Soul Stone. Here"s why.
Bringing the Red Skull"s story into the MCU properly might also be a great way for Steve Rogers" mission to be detailed, as he would have crossed paths with the Red Skull when returning the Infinity Stones. Exploring this gap in the Red Skull"s storyline would also be a fantastic way to reveal more about the Soul Stone itself. The Soul Stone wasn"t seen in the MCU until Avengers: Infinity War, so we still know very little about it. What it does, where it originated, and who might have used it in the past are all a mystery.
