Daredevil"s Charlie Cox Reveals Which DC Character He"d Most Want to Play In James Gunn"s DCU

Charlie Cox first played Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil in Netflix"s Daredevil season 1, which launched a whole Marvel subfranchise in 2015. Since then, Cox has played the Devil of Hell"s Kitchen in two other seasons of his Netflix solo show, The Defenders, and two MCU cameos: Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Now, Cox"s Daredevil finally stars in his own solo series officially set in the MCU, Phase 5"s Daredevil: Born Again, where he"s set to face Kingpin, Bullseye, and Muse.
During the Daredevil: Born Again panel at FAN EXPO San Francisco 2024, Charlie Cox was asked which DC character he would be interested in portraying. Cox admitted it would be a challenge, but said that he would enjoy playing the Joker. Cox also expressed his admiration for Heath Ledger"s award-winning performance as the Joker in Christopher Nolan"s The Dark Knight. Cox"s full comments below (at the 12:19 mark):
"I wouldn"t want to take it on based on the actors you have in the past because they"re so brilliant, but I was thinking like, the Joker would be a lot of fun... If you could find a way to do something... You know, I mean, Heath Ledger for me nailed that part obviously... If you could find a new take on it in some way that would be cool."
