Avengers 6"s Fantastic Four Story Can Finally Answer A 2-Year-Old MCU Question

Summary
  • Avengers: Secret Wars in the MCU's Phase 6 may feature many new and returning MCU heroes, including the new Fantastic Four.
  • If Avengers: Secret Wars follows the storyline of Marvel Comics' 1984 Secret Wars event, the Fantastic Four may lose a member in Phase 6.
  • Several MCU heroes could temporarily join the Fantastic Four after Avengers: Secret Wars, including She-Hulk, Ant-Man and Spider-Man.
The events of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Secret Wars in Phase 6 of the MCU may allow an unexpected hero to join the ranks of the new Fantastic Four. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirmed the development of Avengers: Secret Wars in 2022, with the project set to bring the MCU's Phase 6 and the Multiverse Saga to an epic conclusion. Currently scheduled for release in 2027, the MCU's Avengers: Secret Wars may be based on Marvel Comics' 1984 and 2015 Secret Wars events, hinting at past Marvel characters returning, and at incursions perhaps changing the shape of the MCU forever.
Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to feature many returning characters from the MCU's past and other Marvel franchises. However, some of the MCU's newest heroes will also play a major role in the Phase 6 project, particularly the Fantastic Four, who are set to debut in 2025's The Fantastic Four. Marvel Studios has finally confirmed the main cast for The Fantastic Four, but it's possible that the team's line-up could change, just as it has several times in Marvel Comics. Avengers: Secret Wars provides the opportunity for this to happen, allowing an unexpected hero to step up to the plate.
Related 10 Ways MCU’s Fantastic Four Movie Can Totally Change The Franchise Forever Marvel's Fantastic Four will debut in 2025, and the team's introduction can bring along several major elements that will completely change the MCU. She-Hulk’s MCU Future Is Unclear After Her Phase 4 Debut Tatiana Maslany debuted as Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner's cousin, in 2022's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, marking her transformation into the titular She-Hulk, and introducing a powerful new superhero to the MCU. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was incredibly expensive to produce, and received some criticism for its lackluster visual effects, so Tatiana Maslany recently suggested that She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2 wouldn't be developed. This leaves She-Hulk's future in the MCU uncertain, and she has yet to be confirmed to be joining any upcoming MCU project, even with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars on the horizon.
It's likely that Jennifer Walters' She-Hulk will be featured in the MCU's new Avengers team, but with details surrounding Avengers: The Kang Dynasty being kept under wraps in the wake of Jonathan Majors' firing from Marvel Studios, it's unclear exactly who will form this new team. With no hope for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2, Marvel Studios' rumored World War Hulk project remaining unconfirmed, and almost too many new superheroes to count in the Multiverse Saga, it's possible that She-Hulk could simply fade into obscurity. However, there is one surprising team she could join: the MCU's Fantastic Four.

Release Date August 17, 2022 Directors Kat Coiro Showrunner Jessica Gao She-Hulk Could Join The Fantastic Four After Avengers: Secret Wars Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, better known simply as Secret Wars, was Marvel Comics' first foray into this epic storyline that ran between May 1984 and April 1985. Written by Jim Shooter with art by Bob Layton and Mike Zeck, Secret Wars featured many heroes and villains from the Marvel Universe being brought to Battleworld by the Beyonder for an epic battle royale. Among these characters were the Fantastic Four, including Ben Grimm's Thing, who realized that he could revert to his original human form while on Battleworld, prompting him to remain on the planet following the Secret Wars event.
She-Hulk was a member of the Fantastic Four for 35 issues starting with April 1984's Fantastic Four #265.
This left the Fantastic Four one member short, but this void was filled by She-Hulk. She-Hulk helped the Fantastic Four battle Doctor Doom, Mephisto, Doctor Octopus and Terminus, and also found herself stuck in her She-Hulk form after being exposed to radiation. Upon Ben Grimm's return, She-Hulk left the Fantastic Four and rejoined the Avengers, but even though her time with the team was short-lived, this could provide the perfect future for Tatiana Maslany's She-Hulk in the MCU. If Ebon Moss-Bachrach's Ben Grimm departs the team after Avengers: Secret Wars, She-Hulk could become an official member of the Fantastic Four.
Which Other MCU Heroes Could Join The Fantastic Four? Close As well as She-Hulk joining the Fantastic Four, several other heroes have also been featured temporarily in the team. This has usually been to replace missing heroes, notably Ben Grimm or Johnny Storm, but the team has also been known as the Fantastic Five. Some of these heroes have been established in the MCU, or will be soon, including Scott Lang's Ant-Man, Peter Parker's Spider-Man, Luke Cage, the Black Panther, and the mutant X-Men members Wolverine and Storm. This means it's possible that the Fantastic Four's line-up could change several times in the wake of Phase 6's Avengers: Secret Wars.
